Gear up, because we’re back on the line of duty.
Yep, Line of Duty season 7 is almost here, and the BBC has just unveiled the new and returning cast members. Thankfully, there are plenty of familiar faces, including our iconic trio, alongside a host of fresh stars. While some of these newcomers haven’t appeared on Line of Duty before, you’ll almost certainly recognise them from hits like Killing Eve, Rivals, and You.
So, what’s in store for the new season? Here’s what we know so far: AC-12 has been disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards. Anticorruption work has never been tougher, and in this tense climate, the team is handed their most sensitive case yet.
Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a charismatic officer lauded for his string of takedowns of organised crime, is accused of abusing his position of trust to act as a sexual predator. But is Gough’s case just a smokescreen for an even bigger threat lurking in the shadows?
Hold onto your seats. Here’s a look at the cast bringing Line of Duty season 7 to life.
The hunt for “H” is back on.

Who’s in the Line of Duty season 7 cast?
As the guest lead for season 7, we’ve got Robert Carlyle stepping in as Detective Constable Shaun Massie. A Specialist Rifle Officer (SRO) and veteran marksman, Massie works with Tactical Operations Unit 7 (TO-7) to take down Organised Crime Groups. A gruff loner, he usually keeps to himself, but when his boss, TO-7’s commanding officer DI Dominic Gough, is accused of being a sexual predator, Massie’s normally detached exterior is shaken to its core.
Carlyle, of course, is a timeless star, beloved for roles in The Beach, Trainspotting, and 28 Weeks Later.
Tom Weston-Jones takes on the role of Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, leader of Tactical Operations Unit 7 (TO-7). A charismatic officer celebrated for a string of high-profile takedowns of organised crime, Gough finds himself accused of abusing his position of trust to act as a sexual predator. But could this case be a calculated smokescreen for an even bigger threat still lurking in the shadows?
Weston-Jones is best known for his roles in Warrior and Sanditon.
Following her standout roles in This City is Ours and Gavin & Stacy, Laura Aikman joins the cast of Line of Duty season 7 as DC Paula Beckman.
Levi Brown steps into Line of Duty season 7 as DC Luke Tobin. Brown is no stranger to gripping drama, having previously appeared in This Town and Girl Taken.
From The Dumping Ground to You, Amy-Leigh Hickman has proven her versatility onscreen. Now, she joins the Line of Duty team as DC Nira Rashid.
In a yet-to-be-named role, David Calder joins the cast. Best known for Motherland and Rivals, and yes, that’s the chilling Reverend Penney in Rivals, he’s sure to bring the same intensity to Line of Duty season 7.
From Prisoner to Toxic Town, Steven Elder has never shied away from a tough role. We can’t wait to see who he’ll bring to life in Line of Duty season 7.
He briefly stole our attention in season three of Killing Eve as the accountant, and now Dominic Mafham is joining the cast of Line of Duty season 7. He’s also known for roles in Vigil and Ophelia.

Obviously, the Line of Duty season 7 cast wouldn’t be complete without Martin Compston. Could you imagine the uproar if Anti-Corruption Unit Detective Inspector Steve Arnott didn’t return? Our rugged leading man is back, ready to take down the bad guys once again.
At his side is Detective Inspector Kate Fleming, played by Vicky McClure. Season 6 saw Fleming in high-stakes stand-offs, thrilling car chases, and stepping up to lead, and we can’t wait to see what challenges the new season throws her way.
Superintendent Ted Hastings is back! The season 6 finale saw Hastings confessing to giving bribe money to Steph Corbett and accidentally tipping off the OCG about her. We can’t wait to see how Adrian Dunbar tackles the role this season.
Former Deputy Chief Constable Mike Dryden will be returning for the new season, played by Mark Bonnar.
Played by Owen Teale, Chief Constable Philip Osborne returns for the new season. When we last saw Osborne, he was seeking immunity for proceedings against Buckells to prevent evidence of institutional corruption from coming to light in court.
Perry Fitzpatrick is back in uniform as DS Chris Lomax.
Finally, rounding off the returning cast for Line of Duty season 7 is Christina Chong, better known as DI Nicky Rogerson.
