Lady Gaga rushed to the aid of a fallen photographer on the Oscars red carpet

The video is going viral, naturally.

Photographing the Oscars red carpet can be a dangerous game, evidently. If only Lady Gaga was there to help every photojournalist who takes an accidental tumble, as she was for one unfortunate (fortunate?) man at the 2023 Oscars

While Gaga was moving past a throng of photographers and journalists before the ceremony began, one photographer ran up to catch the nominee from another angle before he appeared to trip on the hem of Gaga's train and fall. Unlike many of the other onlookers, the nominee herself immediately jumped into action, sprinting to help the man up from the ground. (See the video here.)

The moment was captured on video from several different angles, and all of them immediately began to go viral on Twitter. “Lady Gaga’s combat journalist skills finally jumped out at the Oscars lmao,” journalist Joey Nolfi quipped. “Me when I disguise as a photographer & fall down to finally get noticed by Gaga,” another person joked. “Not all heroes wear capes. Lady Gaga jumped into action to help a photographer who took a stumble on the #Oscars champagne carpet,” tweeted another viewer.

After her minor hero moment, Lady Gaga went on to perform a last-minute rendition of her Oscar-nominated ballad, “Hold My Hand,” written to honor the fictional heroes in Top Gun: Maverick. For the performance, Gaga changed from her stunning Versace ballgown and dramatic makeup look into a pair of ripped jeans, gray T-shirt, and well-worn Converse, and washed every speck of makeup from her face. (This also went viral.)

Helping a photographer who falls on the carpet; running in a ballgown; performing at the Oscars in the same outfit I'm wearing to write this article: it's all in a day's work for Lady Gaga.
