Raise your hand if every cliffhanger at the end of Netflix's House of Guinness left you wanting more.
The show, created by the man behind Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, offers everything you might want from a gritty period drama: family drama, power struggles et al. Inspired by the Guinness dynasty's rise during the 19th century (the show states it is “inspired by true stories”, but some of the narrative is of course fictional) – the show boasts a stellar cast to boot. So naturally, we want more.
The first series of the show delved into the lives of Guinness siblings Arthur, Edward, Benjamin and Anne as they with their father's death, the legacy of the family business (the famous Guinness brewery, of course) and various personal and romantic dramas.
Niamh McCormack, Emily Fairn and Danielle Galligan tell us why “the women are the smartest people on the show”.

As Netflix's Tudum states: "House of Guinness welcomes you to opulent — and dangerous — 1860s Dublin. At the centre of the cast is the Guinness family: Arthur (Anthony Boyle), Edward (Louis Partridge), Anne (Emily Fairn), and Ben (Fionn O’Shea), all reeling in their own way following the death of their formidable patriarch, brewing mogul Sir Benjamin Guinness.
“Inspired by real history, each of the siblings must now carry the weight and responsibility of their famous name into the future, as they seek to cement the legacy of their family. On that journey, the Guinness heirs are met by allies (like James Norton’s Sean Rafferty), enemies, complicated love interests, and more as each character fights for their own best interests as well as that of the family business.”
So… are we getting a follow-up? Here's what you need to about season two of House of Guinness.
Will there be a House of Guinness season 2?
Things certainly look promising. The Mirror has reported that during a Q&A at a screening for the show, Stephen Knight confirmed his intention to make various series of the show.
When asked whether the series would continue, he said: “Yes, of course. We are going to do season two, and three and four." He even added: “Yes absolutely, we are going to do this all the way to the 1960s.”
That's not the only time Knight has spoken about bringing the show into more modern times, either. "In a perfect world, I’d like to take it on all the way into the 20th century," he told ScreenRant in September. "These things are not being announced, this is not decided. But if you look at even a cursory glance at the history of the Guinness family, they keep throwing up these dramas."
Anthony Boyle, who plays Arthur Guinness, has also shared that he would love to do a second series of House of Guinness. He told The Mirror: “I think the scripts were amazing and I really enjoyed the cast and directors. I loved it, I love the end product. It's a show I'm really proud of and if they wanted to go again I'd be overjoyed.”
Sadly, Netflix hasn't yet confirmed it intends to renew the show – so the news isn't official as yet. But the cliffhangers in the final episode of season one would suggest that the story is set to continue at least for a second series, right?
What will House of Guinness season 2 be about?
While we have no confirmation as to what the next series will hold (or even, to be frank, whether it's happening or not), we can be pretty sure that a second season of the show would pick up where it left off.
Undoubtedly, it will continue the various sagas of the Guinness family siblings – including the fate of Arthur, who was the central subject of season one's final cliffhanger.
For now, we'll have to wait and see. We'll update this article with any further news on House of Guinness season two.
