I wax lyrical about H&M Studio, but they can honestly do no wrong. Think elevated fabrics and shapes but at high-street price points. The H&M Studio Pre-Spring capsule? It just might be one of my favourite releases from them ever, and it launched this morning.
Pre-spring is often over looked as an extension of winter. Sure, it's mostly still freezing out – and one of the best winter coats, your winter boots and perhaps the odd thermal here or there is definitely warranted – but there's always a handful of anomaly days when the sun makes an appearance (and the temperature creeps above 12°C).
That's exactly where this collection comes in – when we're longing for some vitamin D. H&M Studio Designer Linda Wikell agrees. “Thinking about that time before we can fully bloom led us to this play of tailoring and floaty fabrics,” she says. “And by injecting a bit of toughness with leather and denim, the capsule feels powerful and confident – ready for anything.” Which, living in the UK, is kind of a necessity.

Sticking to a mainly black and midnight blue colour palette – taking notes from the Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander McQueen and Valentino runways – are subtle splashes of colour that'll remind you of the year's first daffodils and bluebells are the main attraction. Miranda Priestly, avert your eyes.
The quality? Not too dissimilar to that which you'd expect from the brand's iconic designer collaborations – of which I am awaiting news on patiently. For now, though, H&M Studio Pre-Spring has everything from what to wear to work (a bodysuit shirt and straight trousers) to winter/spring wedding guest dresses sorted. And I, for one, thank them for it.
