We love a movie about sisterhood – and His Three Daughters, starring Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon – is definitely one to look out for. And you can watch the trailer now.

The trio will play sisters with a complicated, yet intense, dynamic who come together in the final three days of their father's life.

His Three Daughters will have a double release of sorts, dropping in cinemas first and then on Netflix a couple of weeks later. Here's what we know so far about it.

His Three Daughters plot

Netflix's plot synopsis for the movie is a corker: "From writer-director Azazel Jacobs (French Exit, The Lovers) comes this bittersweet and often funny story of an elderly patriarch and the three grown daughters who come to be with him in his final days.

"Katie (Carrie Coon) is a controlling Brooklyn mother dealing with a wayward teenage daughter; free-spirited Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) is a different kind of mum, separated from her offspring for the first time; and Rachel (Natasha Lyonne) is a sports-betting stoner who has never left her father’s apartment — much to the chagrin of her half-sisters, who share a different mother and worldview.

“Continuing his astute exploration of family dynamics in close-knit spaces, Jacobs follows the siblings over the course of three volatile days, as death looms, grievances erupt, and love seeps through the cracks of a fractured home.”

The film has also been described by TUDUM as “a story of pre mourning”. It looks at whether the death of their father will push the sisters further apart or ultimately bring them closer together.
