Everything is better in summer. We're tanned, we get to lounge in the sun and sea, and with it comes natural hair highlights, allowing us to ease off on our colour maintenance.
Come winter, our hair can feel somewhat lacklustre. But even on darker autumn and winter days, we find ourselves craving a little more life and colour in our look. Enter, fallayage.
What is fallayage?
Fallayage combines ‘Fall’ and ‘balayage’. As you might imagine, the application technique is the same as balayage, with colour being loosely brushed into the hair with a brush.
However, the difference between the two comes from the colour itself.
Whereas balayage is used to create the look of sun-kissed hair, fallayage is intended to breathe some life into our dull winter hair colour with warmer tones, from golden browns, caramel or copper tones for brunettes to sand, strawberry blonde or honey tones for blondes.

Who does fallayage suit?
In theory fallayage can be tailored to suit a range of complexions because of the different shades that can be used.
Only women with an especially cool, pale complexion should be wary of golden shades and instead look for more cool, blonde highlights that can be complemented with a few warm accents.
Advantages of fallayage
As with balayage, fallayage is a lazy girl's dream in that strands can be left to grow out without the need for constant recolouring. Getting it done now could see your hair last until summer, when the natural balayage of the sun will pick up the maintenance for you!
