Emily in Paris season 5 is almost here. As in, so almost. And technically, it's Emily in Rome.
Here's everything we know so far about Emily in Paris season 5.
Emily in Paris season 5 release date
Netflix has confirmed that we'll be getting a new season of Emily in Paris for Christmas! All 10 episodes will drop on 18 December, a week before the big day. What a treat.
The show's star, Lily Collins, first revealed the news that the show will return during an appearance on Good Morning America before show creator Darren Star spoke to Netflix's Tudum. “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” he said.
Part two of season four of Emily in Paris saw our favourite American in Paris back doing what she does best — you know, flirting with hot French chefs, speaking absolutely no French (or Italian) and wearing the wildest colour combos you've literally ever seen.
“Anyone who wants to be a parent should be able to be a parent, fertile or infertile, gay or straight, celebrity or citizen.”

As the fifth season drew closer to filming stages (in both Italy and France) Netflix released a cast announcement, and one key character was sadly missing. Camille Razat, who plays Emily's “frenemy” Camille on the show, was not listed as part of the returning cast.
The show's creator Darren Starr has previously hinted at Camille's exit, but also teased that her story would continue. Do we detect a potential spin-off? “I think she’s always going to be part of the series — she’s part of their world and I would never rule out the fact that we’re going to see her again. Her story is going to continue,” he told The Wrap.
It's also possible that she'll show up later in the season, but it doesn't look likely for the early episodes as plans for filming begin. “Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don’t necessarily have to see them. We may or may not," Darren said. "I don’t know how much of Camille we’ll see next season. But again, she’s part of the world of the series. I’m not sure how soon we’ll see her, but it doesn’t mean, again, that we won’t be seeing her.”
Will we get any more of Emily's antics in Paris — and Rome? Will there be an Emily in Paris season 5? Here's everything we know.
And now I need a cobalt suit, apparently.

What time is Emily in Paris season 5 released
If you're anything like us, you're probably anxious to start binging as soon as you possibly can. Well, set an alarm and warn any family members you may be spending time with this holiday season – because season 5 lands at precisely 8am here in the UK on 18 December. That means tomorrow, Thursday the 18th, is basically a write off, right?
Emily in Paris season 5 plot
The plot synopsis reads as follows: "Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks.
“Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.”
What will these new possibilities be?! We can't wait to find out. But we do know it includes a trip to Venice. The show's creator Darren Starr has added: “This season is a Tale of Two Cities. Rome and Paris. Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”
It does seem like, at least initially, Emily is going to be sticking in Rome.
“I think we will definitely see more Emily in Rome,” said Star. “Emily [is now] there. There’s an office, and I think the story is taking us there for the moment. So we will spend more time in Italy, but it doesn’t mean we’re leaving Paris.”
Star recently told Netflix's Tudum that the idea behind taking Emily to Rome was to “stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” and prove “the show has the ability to have a bigger footprint.”
There's a lot to come: Mindy is about to be a judge on Chinese Pop Star, Gabriel is heading to Rome to try to win back Emily, Camille is adopting a baby — Netflix, bring on season five!
Emily in Paris season 5 cast
Who could we expect to see in Emily in Paris season 5? According to Netflix's April casting announcement, we will be seeing the following cast members join Lily Collins for season 5: Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Thalia Besson (Genevieve), and Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello).
Lily opened up to Netflix's Tudum about what Emily's romance with Marcello will bring to the series and her character's life.
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
Darren Star previously hinted at Camille's exit in an interview with GLAMOUR US. “I think the idea that she thought she was going to have a baby, and then to have dealt with that disappointment, and then to discover there was a way to do it with Gabriel that he didn’t want to pursue — [as a result], she realised this was something that she wanted to do on her own. So I don’t know what’s going to happen with her in season five. I’m not sure how much we’ll see of that story right now. But that’s sort of where she’s heading.”
Star also added that a new character might be joining the cast. “We definitely will want to see Alfie next season,” he said. “And I think there’s still a question mark [about] who he’s dating. We don’t know who this person is yet, so absolutely [we want to meet her].”
What happens in season 4 of Emily in Paris?
In the fourth season of Emily in Paris, Emily finds herself struggling to choose between Alfie and the newly single Gabriel. She eventually finds herself in a relationship with Gabriel — but things get a little complicated when Camille, Gabriel's ex who is pregnant with his child, moves into his apartment with her new girlfriend, Sofia. The couple finally find their own place — and it just so happens to be across the hall from Gabriel. As usual, Emily's love life is rather messy. At the end of part 1, Camille breaks up with Sofia and discovers that she's not actually pregnant — but she decides to hide the information from Gabriel and Emily in order to stay close to him.
In the second part of the season, Emily breaks up with Gabriel as he keeps prioritising Camille. After meeting a dashing Italian on the slopes of the French alps, Emily finds herself whisked off to Italy for a Roman holiday. She falls for Marcello and his simple way of life and, before long, she has struck a deal with his family cashmere business. This means Agence Grateau needs a Rome office and Sylvie gives the gig to Emily. As the season ends, Emily is settling into her new life in Rome with the very handsome Marcello, while Gabriel sets off to try to win her back.
The Italian actor plays Emily's new beau in Emily in Paris season 4.

Will Emily in Paris season 5 happen?
It will indeed. The news came after Star confessed to The Hollywood Reporter, “To me, great characters on a great series are like, I have a hard time letting go and saying goodbye. They always take you places. If you look at Sex and the City, It’s still happening 25 years later.”
Back in June, there was some drama at an amfAR event at Cannes Film Festival when Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson announced that a walk-on role was for Emily In Paris season 5 was being auctioned off.
The listing read: “From Sex and the City to Emily in Paris, Darren Star brings dreams to life, and he will bring the film dreams to life for one lucky bidder with a walk-on role during season five of Emily in Paris. As part of the walk-on role, the winning bidder will have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming sometime after April 2025. To tide you over until then, the winning bidder and a guest are invited to attend the Los Angeles premiere of Emily in Paris season four this August.”
After it was pointed out that season 5 had yet to be greenlit, the auction listing was amended to clarify that the winning bidder (who paid out €250,000, BTW) would “have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming, contingent upon season five pick-up”.
It looks like Star has plans that go beyond the fifth season: when Deadline asked Starr about the possibility of more seasons beyond the fourth, he was very encouraging.
“I definitely think the show has a life beyond next season. There’s no end in sight until everybody feels like it’s time to end.”
