It's never too early to get your 2026 movie list for the new year straight. And boy, is next year going to be a big one. Especially for fans of Anne Hathaway, just saying.
While we don't have a confirmed date for Hathaway's return as Queen of Genovia in Princess Diaries 3, we are set to see her star in a range of amazing Hollywood classics, including alongside Michaela Coel in Mother Mary – the trailer has just dropped and it's epic – not to mention the much-awaited Devil Wears Prada 2, Flowervale Street and Christopher Nolan's take on The Odyssey.
The How To Be Human singer on topping the charts as a 'quadruple homicider' (being Black, gay, autistic and female), the Celebrity Traitors group chat, and the power of crying.

And that's not all. In 2026, we'll also see the next instalment of the 28 Years Later trilogy, Emerald Fennell's controversial take on Wuthering Heights and Greta Gerwig's return to our screens as she directs a rather special Narnia film, starring Emma Mackey and Carey Mulligan.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Plot: The latest instalment in the 28 Days/Weeks/Years Later apocalyptic franchise from Danny Boyle. We see 28 Years Later protagonist Alfie inducted into Jimmy Crystal's (Jack O'Connell) gang, while Ralph Fiennes' Dr Kelson discovers something that could change the dystopian world these movies take place in.
The History of Sound
Release date: 23 January 2026
Starring: Josh O'Connor, Paul Mescal
Plot: Mescal and O'Connor play Lionel and David, respectively, who meet as students but then reconnect after World War 1 on a mission to collect folk songs across rural Maine. What starts out as a platonic friendship evolves into a secret love affair.
Wuthering Heights
Release date: 15 February 2026
Starring: Jacob Elordi, Margot Robbie, Alison Oliver, Hong Chau
Plot: Emerald Fennell's take on Emily Brontë's classic novel has caused excitement amongst Fennell diehards and pearl-clutching in the Brontë purist camp. It's definitely set to be a particularly dark take on the story, with Margot Robbie playing Catherine Earnshaw and Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi playing her tormented love interest Heathcliff.
The Bride!

Release date: 6 March 2026
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Penelope Cruz, Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale
Plot: The modern movie renditions of Frankenstein continue. This time, Maggie Gyllenhaal steps behind the camera to direct a reimagining of Bride of Frankenstein where we see a murdered woman re-animated by two scientists to be a companion for Frankenstein's monster. This experiment, according to the synopsis, “sparks romance, police interest, and radical social change”.
Mother Mary
Release date: April 2026
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Hunter Schafer, Michaela Coel
Plot: This one is not to be missed. Anne Hathaway plays a Lady Gaga-style popstar at the height of her fame who recalls the help of her former friend and confidante, played by Coel. Looks to be epic.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come
Release date: 10 April 2026
Starring: Samara Weaving, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kathryn Newton
Plot: Samara Weaving is set to reprise her role in the Ready or Not universe, which saw her inducted into a rather sick pre-wedding ceremony by her fiancé's wealthy family back in 2019 in the original film. Now, the sequel will see her rejoin the story – we don't know a lot about the plot so far but we do know that she will be joined by Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
Release date: 1 May 2026
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Simone Ashley, Sydney Sweeney, Kenneth Branagh, Stanley Tucci
Plot: The sequel looks to be all about Meryl Streep's Amanda Priestley going head to head with Blunt's Emily, who is now a rival executive in the magazine industry. No word yet on where Anne Hathaway's Andy will come down in all of this, but we can't wait to find out.
Verity

Starring: Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett
Plot: Another adaptation of virally popular author Colleen Hoover's novels sees Dakota Johnson play ghost writer Lowen, who is tasked with adapting bestselling author Verity (Anne Hathaway)'s work after she suffers an accident and is unable to finish. As she begins work, she truly discovers the murky secrets that Verity has been keeping.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Release date: 26 June 2026
Starring: Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, Emily Beecham
Plot: We can't wait to see Sirens and House of the Dragon star in her own Supergirl movie. It looks to take a deep look into the dark past of Kara Zor-El and the story of her life before she reached Earth.
Moana
Release date: 10 July 2026
Starring: Catherine Laga'aia, Dwayne Johnson, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen, John Tui
Plot: We don't yet have plot-specific details for the live-action rendition of the much-loved animated Disney classic, but we are expecting it to follow a similar story to its predecessor, seeing Moana (played by Catherine Laga'aia) set out on a journey across the ocean to restore prosperity to her community.
The Odyssey
Release date: 17 July 2026
Starring: Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Elliot Page, Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth
Plot: Christopher Nolan's latest star-studded blockbuster sees the director take on and adapt Homer's ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey. Exciting.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Release date: 31 July 2026
Starring: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink
Plot: We can't believe it, but Brand New Day is said to conclude the Spider-Man films led by Tom Holland. The end of an era. It should pick up from the events of No Way Home – which was somehow released as long ago as 2021 – and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is said to have an integral role.
Flowervale Street
Release date: 14 August 2026
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor
Plot: Details have largely been kept under wraps plot wise for this one, and production has been a long time in the making. Flowervale Street reportedly revolves around a 1980s family who notice “bizarre happenings” around their neighbourhood.
Practical Magic 2
Release date: 18 September 2026
Starring: Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Joey King, Maisie Williams
Plot: Filming has wrapped on Practical Magic 2, which will see Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock return to screens as witch sisters Sally and Gillian. They will be joined in this new rendition, though, by Joey King and Maisie Williams. Will they play a similar unstoppably witchy sister duo? We'll have to wait to find out.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Plot: A prequel movie set 24 years before Katniss' (Jennifer Lawrence) Hunger Games ordeal began.
Focker-In Law

Plot: The sequel we never knew we needed. A new character Henry Focker (Skyler Gisondo) opts to marry a woman his family deem to be a mismatch for him. Cue the hilarity.
Narnia: The Magician's Nephew
Release date: 26 November 2026, and will be available to stream on Netflix on 25 December 2026.
Starring: Carey Mulligan, Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep
Plot: Guaranteed to be a massive festive classic for late 2026, Greta Gerwig is set to bring her own spin on CS Lewis' Narnia novel The Magician's Nephew, with Sex Education star Emma Mackey playing The White Witch.
Dune: Part Three
Release date: 18 December 2026
Starring: Florence Pugh, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Robert Pattinson, Timothée Chalamet, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa
Plot: Set to be an adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah, Dune: Part Three will see the consequences of Chalamet's character Paul Atreides' rule as Emperor.
