The quest to find the best long-lasting perfumes on the market has been something of high personal importance to me. After all, there's nothing more underwhelming than falling in love with a fragrance at first spritz, only for it to disappear by the time you’ve stepped outside. Despite many perfumes for women (and aftershaves for men, actually) promising staying power, genuinely long-lasting perfumes are still surprisingly hard to come by. But in 2026, that just doesn't cut it.
I expect serious performance from every other step in my beauty routine: foundations that last through long days, setting sprays that lock everything in place; lipsticks that don’t budge. Fragrance, in my opinion, should be no different. The best long-lasting perfumes aren’t just about how a scent smells, but how it wears – how it evolves on the skin, how far it projects, and most importantly, how long it actually lasts. Because when you invest in a perfume – whether it’s your everyday signature or the scent you’ve chosen for something as poignant as your wedding day, you'd want it to stay with you. From the morning commute to last orders, without the need to constantly reapply or overdo it.
The good news? There are formulas that deliver (and I've been busy testing them). Think: high-quality eau de parfums and extrait de parfums packed with lasting base notes – musks, ambers, woods, jasmine, rose and resins – that are designed to cling to skin and fabric for hours on end. From luminous florals to addictive, date night musks, I've curated an edit of the best long-lasting perfumes that actually stay put. Ahead, the long-lasting perfumes that truly go the distance.
My favourite long-lasting perfumes, at a glance:
How I tested the best long lasting perfumes
To find long-lasting perfumes that genuinely go the distance, I spent weeks spritzing, sniffing and properly putting them through their paces – and I also called on the Glamour beauty team to help me test even more formulas across different skin types and routines. Because let’s be honest: a fragrance can wear completely differently depending on who’s wearing it.
Each scent was tested in real-life scenarios, from desk days and post-work dinners to long, sweaty commutes and summer events, to see how it actually held up beyond the first impression. I wanted to know not just how it smelled, but how it lasted. Along the way, I paid close attention to key markers of longevity: sillage (how far the scent travels), projection, and the dry-down (the notes that linger on the skin hours later). Bonus points if I could still catch a trace on my clothes days later. The below are the perfumes that truly impressed.
Packaging was also part of the criteria, because if it's living on your dressing table or in your tote, it better spark joy, as was the complexity of the fragrance itself. Think: does it smell luxe, or just loud? Is it memorable without being overpowering? And most importantly: does it last from morning spritz to evening Uber home without the need for a midday top-up? Our verdict? Ahead, the perfumes that passed with flying colours.
Why you can trust me
As a beauty contributor at Glamour, I’ve tested near to a hundred fragrances – from viral TikTok favourites to luxury icons – and spent my career learning what actually separates a good scent from a great one.
I’ve interviewed perfumers, covered fragrance trends, and, quite literally, worn perfumes everywhere from fashion week to long-haul travel days, so I know exactly what it takes for a scent to last.
On a personal note, perfumes that don't last are one of my biggest beauty gripes, so I simply wouldn't recommend one I wouldn't wear myself.
Ahead, our edit of the best long-lasting perfumes available to shop now.
1. Most Long-Lasting Perfume Overall: Penhaligon's Portraits Bewitching Yasmine Eau de Parfum
Why we love it: "This perfume is called ‘Bewitching’ for a reason. It was an instant hit with the Glamour beauty team (tough crowd), but what really sold me was how it genuinely wears throughout the day.
"The scent opens with cardamom and rich coffee before settling into something deeper and more resinous. The oud is definitely strong, but it’s softened by vanilla and lifted with jasmine, so it feels warm and sensual rather than too heavy.
“Longevity-wise, it really holds its own. I could still smell it on my skin hours later, and even lingered after I had a shower – which, for me, is always the sign of a fragrance that’s seriously excels in the longevity test. If it feels a little strong on first spritz, this scent leaves a trail without smelling sickly, and evolves nicely throughout the day into a softer smell rather than disappearing after a few hours. I loved it.”
- Top notes: Cardamom, coffee.
- Middle notes: Jasmine sambac, fir resin.
- Base notes: Laotian oud, vanilla, incense.
2. Best Floral Long-Lasting Perfume: Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum For Women
Why we love it: "If you’re after a floral perfume that actually lasts, this is a really solid choice. It’s bright, feminine and easy to wear, but with more staying power than you’d expect from something this light. You get an immediate hit of pear blossom and gardenia, before jasmine and patchouli come through to give it a bit more depth. It stops it from feeling too airy or disappearing too quickly, which can often be the case with softer florals.
"On me, Gucci Flora held up really well throughout the day. It doesn’t have that heavy, room-filling projection, but it lingers nicely on skin and clothing, and you’ll still catch it on yourself hours later without needing to reapply.
“I love reaching for this scent in the spring and summer – ideal if you want something long-lasting that doesn’t veer too intense. After something else? My colleague, Elle Turner, has written about more of the very best summer perfumes in our dedicated round-up.”
- Top notes: Pear blossom, red berries.
- Heart notes: Gardenia, jasmine.
- Base notes: Brown sugar, patchouli.
3. Best Spiced Long-Lasting Perfume: Prada Les Infusions Infusion De Santal Chai Eau De Parfum
Why I love it: "If you like your fragrances warm, comforting and spiced, this one is such a chic take on a spiced scent. Just like a chai latte, you really do get that creamy, softly spiced feel from the first spritz.
"It opens with cardamom and a touch of citrus, before settling into that signature milky chai accord – think soft spices and warmth rather than anything too sharp or overpowering. The sandalwood in the base is what really gives it staying power, creating that clean, skin-hugging finish that lingers for hours.
“On me, it wears quite close to the skin but lasts well throughout the day. Despite being a spiced scent, I love how light it is, making it a favourite fragrance of mine for summer.”
- Top notes: Cardamom, citrus.
- Middle notes: Masala chai, spices, milk.
- Base notes: Sandalwood, musk.
4. Best Long-Lasting Perfume For Nights Out: Yves Saint Laurent Exclusive Libre Le Parfum
Why we love it: "Fuelled by spicy saffron, this iconic fragrance from YSL features notes of ginger, honey, vanilla and lavender to create the depth and intensity we all desire. This empowering scent is bold and unapologetic, which is perfect for giving you an extra boost in confidence ahead of an evening out. It’s bold, warm and instantly recognisable, with that signature bourbon vanilla note giving it a rich, slightly spicy edge from the first spritz.
"The opening feels bright thanks to mandarin and bergamot, but it quickly deepens into thick spiced scent. Lavender and orange blossom bring a softness through the middle, before it settles into a properly indulgent base of bourbon vanilla, honey and tonka bean. The result is sweet, but not overly so – it’s balanced with enough warmth and depth to keep it feeling sophisticated.
“What really makes it stand out, though, is the intensity. This is a perfume that lasts. It clings to skin, lingers on clothes, and leaves a noticeable trail without needing to over-apply: exactly what you want from a long-lasting evening fragrance. I've been reaching for it as my go-to for every night out and date night for the past three years – so much so that it has become my signature. If a bottle ever lands on the Glamour beauty desk, the team know to pass it onto me.”
- Top notes: Mandarin orange, bergamot, saffron.
- Heart notes: Lavender, orange blossom.
- Base notes: Bourbon vanilla, honey, tonka bean, vetiver.

5. Best Long-Lasting Skin Scent: Glossier You Eau de Parfum
Why we love it: "It's true that no two perfumes are ever the same – and neither are its wearers. This unique scent from Glossier features notes of pink pepper, ambrette seeds and warm ambrox to create something that combines with your own personal scent to create something just as special as you.
“Longevity-wise, it’s more of a slow burn than an instant hitter. On my skin, it lasts a good few hours before fading into something more subtle, but on clothes it lingers much longer – the kind of scent you’ll catch again when you re-wear a jumper or scarf. While lots of new Glossier You iterations have launched over recent years – Glossier You Doux and Glossier You Rêve in 2024, Glossier You Fleur in 2025 and Glossier You Soie this year – this still remains a firm favourite in my perfume collection. Its serious lasting power and the beauty set's universal love for it make it a force to be reckoned with.”
- Top notes: Pink pepper.
- Heart notes: Iris, ambrette.
- Base notes: Ambrox.
6. Best Luxury Long-Lasting Perfume: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum
Why we love it: "You'll do well to find a more luxurious fragrance than this one from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. With notes of saffron, cedarwood and jasmine, this bestselling product is practically elegance in a bottle. Its rich musky and woody notes make it the perfect statement piece that will stay on your skin all day long.
“I don't think I've ever got as many compliments on my perfume as the Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum. Personally, I prefer it to the original Baccarat Rouge 540, not only because it's more intense, but because I think it's more complex, and feels a bit more feminine too. It's opulent, lasts ages and will have you smelling like royalty. A classic fragrance from a best-in-class perfumery that definitely deserves a place at the top of your wishlist.”
- Fragrance notes: Saffron, jasmine, ambergris, cedarwood.
7. Most Unique Long-Lasting Perfume: Maison Crivelli Hibiscus Mahajád Extrait de Parfum
Why we love it: “I've stumbled upon this gem of a perfume in one of my beauty advent calendars from last year and to this day, I can't get enough of it. It's unbelievably addictive, sensual and complex, but above all, super unique. Not kidding, I've had people stop me on the tube to ask what I'm wearing because they've never smelled anything like it before. I'd say if you'd wear it on a date, they'll be obsessed with you the day after.
“This long-lasting fragrance features hibiscus as the main star of the show, supported by the contrast of leather and vanilla beans. It's ideal if you're looking for something more fruity and floral – it's warming, lively and is guaranteed to brighten up your day (or theirs)."
- Top notes: Hibiscus, rose.
- Heart notes: Leather, vanilla.
- Base notes: Musk, ambrette.

8. Best Rose Long-Lasting Perfume: Parfums De Marly Delina Eau de Parfum
Why we love it: "If you think you don’t like rose perfumes, this is usually the one that converts you. Delina is one of those modern cult classics that has become a benchmark for fruity-rose fragrances - and importantly for this edit, it actually lasts. This sensual, powdery and floral scent features hints of rose Damascena paired with middle notes of incense and vetiver as well as base notes of vanilla and musk.
“As it dries down, you get that soft musk-vanilla base that clings to skin and clothing. And this is really where its longevity shows up, it doesn’t just disappear after a few hours, it evolves and stays present, often lingering well into the evening on skin and even longer on fabric. Plus, it certainly helps that the bottle this luxury fragrance arrives in is as delicate as the scent itself.”
- Top notes: Lychee, rhubarb, bergamot.
- Heart notes: Turkish rose, peony, vanilla.
- Base notes: Cashmeran, musk, vetiver.

9. Best Cult-Favourite Long-Lasting Perfume: Tom Ford Oud Wood Eau de Parfum
Why we love it: "There’s a reason this has reached cult status - and it’s not just the name. Oud Wood lives up to its price with a scent that smells instantly expensive, with a smooth, woody depth that’s both distinctive and incredibly wearable.
“It opens with cardamom and a hint of spice, before settling into that signature blend of oud, sandalwood and vetiver. What makes it stand out (especially if you’re a bit wary of oud) is how refined it feels - smoky and warm, but never overpowering or too intense. In terms of longevity, it’s a steady performer. It sits closer to the skin than some heavier oud fragrances, but it lingers beautifully - the kind of scent you catch on yourself throughout the day, and subtly on your clothes later on. It’s also incredibly versatile. Polished enough for evenings, but wearable during the day if you like something a little richer.”
- Top notes: Cardamom, pink pepper
- Middle notes: Oud, sandalwood, vetiver
- Base notes: Tonka bean, amber, patchouli
