Just when you thought you'd seen it all, allow us to introduce you to Netflix's latest offering, Age of Attraction.

In the world of reality dating shows, almost anything goes. We've seen couples fall in love “sight unseen” from behind a literal wall. We've seen couples tie the knot at first sight. We've seen couples find love while playing games at a sunny Spanish villa. We've seen shows where non-single men woo single women; shows that pair “MILFs” with younger men; shows where horny singles try to keep apart (again, while playing games in bikinis). The list of wacky dating show premises goes on and on.

But Age of Attraction might just be one of the wildest concepts yet. The new Netflix dating show, which premieres on the streamer on 11 March, is all about the ever-controversial age-gap relationship. The basic idea? “Age is thrown out the window when singles search for their soulmates in this dating series. Is love truly ageless, or will the years come between them?” We already have a few questions about questionable power dynamics that may arise from this premise – and, notably, the older men who will join this show presumably to actively seek out a younger partner. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, what are the actual rules of this new show?

What is Age of Attraction?

Netflix's new reality dating show has a somewhat controversial age-gap premise. The basic idea is, should we really pay so much attention to age when dating?

Who are the hosts of Age of Attraction?

The show will be hosted by Nick Viall, 45, former star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and his wife Natalie Joy, 27. The pair, who have an 18-year age gap, married in 2024.

What are the rules of Age of Attraction?

Ok, let's get into it – how will this dating show actually work?

The show features a cast of singles aged between 22 and 60.

Apparently, there is only one hard-and-fast rule: contestants will never know how old the people they are dating are. “You'll be dating without ever knowing how old your partner is,” Natalie says in a first look clip.

Eventually, couples reveal their ages to each other and decide whether or not to continue their relationships.
