If that wasn't enough excitement for you, Netflix have also revealed the first snaps of the cast and if these images are anything to by, things are going to be even more intense than ever before as season two picks up in the harrowing aftermath of Hannah's death and Liberty High prepares to go on trial.
The first season of the Netflix original divided viewers with its depiction of mental health, self-harm and suicide, but despite the backlash, season two was confirmed last year. Katherine Langford, who plays the star role of Hannah Baker, received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance, and Selena Gomez, one of the executive producers of the show, posted pictures of the wrap party back in December, getting us very excited for its return.
There were fears that season 2's release date had been pushed back, after backlash from the Parents Television Council. They called for further research into the show to ensure it is 'safe for consumption by an audience comprised of minor children'.
“We may never know the full extent of how grave the influence [of 13 Reasons Why season 1] was, but we do know it was enough for Netflix to commission a research report on how the show has impacted the lives of viewers - especially young viewers - in positive ways," said Tim Winter, president of the PTC.
This led to Netflix placing a warning video, with the cast members, on the show. The clip includes a disclaimer about the content viewers are about to watch, as well as mental health advice.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming season "picks up in the aftermath of Hannah's death and the start of the characters' complicated journeys toward healing and recovery."
