Last season's dramatisation of the People v. OJ Simpson had us hooked. This time, the focus is the murder of legendary fashion designer Gianni Versace. The ensemble cast includes Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz, who transforms into none other than Donatella Versace. BBC Two

This pulse-racing thriller is set over four days in modern-day London following the murder of a pizza delivery driver. Mulligan plays the determined detective who refuses to believe it's a random act of violence. Another favourite actress of ours - Billie Piper - co-stars as the wife of a politician embroiled in the drama. BBC Two

Fans of Luther take note - this pre- apocalyptic crime drama - is from the same creator. Deyn takes her first lead role in a TV series as a DI Elaine Renko. She and her partner-in-crime-fighting (played by One Day's Jim Sturgess) struggle to maintain control in a society that's dealign with its impending doom (the sun is going to explode). BBC One

Written by comic genius Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), this painfully accurate depiction of a nasty divorce - in all its petty, nasty, emotional glory - is so, so sharp. And SJP is excellent as Frances, a woman trying and failing, to keep it altogether. Sky Atlantic

Think you don't like sci-fi? Think again. Westworld mixed a Western with a futuristic A.I. storyline to create an addictive mystery, with incredible performances from Newton and co-stars Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden and Anthony Hopkins. Newton's performance feisty, whip-smart madam who realises life isn't what it seems is electrifying. Sky Atlantic

Doctor Fosterhas to be one of the most compelling, talked-about and insanely gripping British dramas for a long while: and Suranne Jones' fury as a wronged woman was magnificent. The good news is she will take the lead in another BBC drama - written by Happy Valley's Sally Wainwright - based on the extraordinary life of Anne Lister, a 19th century society figure who was openly a lesbian. REXJodie Whittaker in Doctor Who
Making her debut as the first ever (and long over due) female Doctor in the show's Christmas special, come January we will be able to enjoy an entire season of adventures with Whittaker at the helm of the Tardis. BBC One

Rewinding way back in time to 43 AD, Reilly plays a kickass Celtic warrior in this historical epic fictionalising the Roman Invasion of Britain and the Celts attempt to defend their lands, which are ruled by powerful women and druids who can channel the powers of the underworld. Sky 1

Not only is this cat-and-mouse thriller written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (of Fleabag fame) - but we have Comer (Thirteen, Doctor Foster) playing the psychopathic killer. Sandra Oh, former Grey's Anatomy, star plays the detective charged with hunting her down. Talk about a winning combination. BBC

This fast-paced drama about the cutthroat British newspaper industry follows the highs and lows of two fictional papers and its staff of journalists: The Herald, a serious broadsheet; and The Post, a traditional tabloid. Riley (Peaky Blinders) plays the Deputy Editor of The Herald with Game Of Thrones' Ellie Kendrick as Junior Reporter at the rival Post. BBC One
