Originally made popular by Naezrah Desir, a 25-year-old Black beauty influencer taking over TikTok with her 'shapeshifting' and 'otherworldly' makeup content. Now everyone is on it, including celebs like Kylie Jenner and SZA. They first started off swearing by the concealer hack, where you'd mix your concealer with a pink blush for the most natural and balanced the under eyes.
Brands have been tapping into it the trend (which is quickly becoming just the done standard done thing) by creating a multi-functioning pink-toned setting powder to set your makeup, rather than the traditional translucent powder. Most recently there is one product that has been going viral on TikTok by makeup artist Jordana Ticia, who is known for her high quality and dual ended products. So, what's the secret behind this hack? Essentially all comes down to colour theory. (We're just as obsessed with colour theory as you are.) Pink is the opposite of green on the colour wheel, which means it can neutralise any green tones in the skin. This is particularly helpful for those who struggle with redness or acne, as these conditions often have underlying green tones in the skin.
By using a pink setting powder, you can not only set your makeup and reduce shine, but also cancel out any unwanted green tones in your complexion. This can lead to a more even, radiant complexion that looks like you're truly glowing from within.
“When it comes to setting powder, people have been using translucent or yellow under toned shades for years. Jordana Ticia says: “I would always tend to recommend a peach or yellow undertone powder for dark skin tones, simply because those tones really compliment deeper complexions. However, going over the top of an already set under eye and baking with a small amount of pink powder can work well on dark skin. I would just recommend experimenting with different techniques and adapting what you see trending online to suit you, as not every trend automatically works for everybody.”

Stay away from pink powders that may be too light or too cool-toned, which can result in an ashy or unnatural finish. Instead, look for a setting powder that has warm undertones and is designed for medium to deep skin tones.
It's important to consider the areas of application. Depending on your natural skin complexion, focus on applying it to specific areas that you want to highlight, such as the under-eye area, the bridge of the nose, and the forehead.
