How to master your winter to spring wardrobe
Apparently, spring is coming. No it doesn't feel that way when you're leaving the house at 7.30am and the temperature feels as cold as an outer Mongolian morgue, but by the time it gets to lunch, it's too warm for your scarf and your wool coat is annoyingly cumbersome.
So what to wear for this in between winter and spring period? It's a case of layering - cropped trousers are good (but maybe wait a few weeks yet, save your ankles getting frostbite), as are lightweight coats. A trench is a safe bet, similarly a bomber jacket and both are great for stacking layers underneath. And you may laugh at those sleeveless long jackets now, but they are (and we're loathe to condone an item of such seeming pointlessness), quite perfect for making the bridge between seasons - add a chunky knit now, then bare arms later on.
One of the saving graces from fashion's new 70s obsession is that with 70s comes suede - a fabric that is warm with a pair of tights and breezy with bare legs. Jackets are snug in the cold, but work equally well over a vest and shorts at summer festivals.
A-line or flared skirts are also a transitional friend. Team pleated styles with a roll neck now, then a silk T-shirt in the spring. Shirts of any description are also an easy win; wear them under jumpers now and then alone with a skirt or boyfriend jeans when it gets warmer.
Learn to love sweaters - Deetz do a great selection of slogan styles to be worn with skinnies now and with denim cut-offs come April-May. Fine knitwear will also serve you well; look to Sandro's khaki hoodie for more details.
Don't try and push those spring items too early; a warm, happy girl is much more likely to look stylish than someone shivering and pissed off at the bus stop.
