The GLAMOUR Insta project

What happened when we gave eight key fashion pieces hot off the catwalk to eight of our favourite Instagram art and photography stars? A whole lot of likes (plus some killer advice to take your feed from so-so to go-go)
AnnisetThe cowboy boot
by spanish architect @ANNISET
Yep, cowboy boots are back and they’re sleeker than ever, thanks to Louis Vuitton’s polished-steel toe-cap ankle boot (£920), photographed here by Anna Devis Benet.
Describe your Instagram
A pastel colour universe where the imagination turns the ordinary into funny images.
Talk us through your pics
The boots’ whiteness made me think about pureness and contrast, while their elegant design reminded me of something delicate and light. Nature and levitation were the concepts I finally came up with.
Where do you get inspiration?
Anywhere but I believe that finding it depends on your state of mind, and what you are doing in that moment. Things that make me happy, daily situations, funny stories and puns inspire me most.
What’s your golden Insta-rule?
I can’t share a picture without a story. I always have a feeling or experience I want to share.
hattiestewartThe return of DIY denim
by vibrant doodler @hattiestewart
Thanks to Vetements’ sell-out re-worked jeans, distressed and embellished denim is everywhere. The trend is all about customizing and making statements with your blues. We asked London illustrator Hattie to do her doodling thing on the Levi’s Wedgie jean (£95).
Describe your Instagram
Playful doodlebombing, a term I made up, meaning illustrating over objects.
Talk us through your pic I’ve wanted to draw on denim for a while, so this was an opportunity to have fun.
What’s your golden Insta-rule? If you create something you’d want to see, it instantly has originality.
And your favourite feed? Caroline Goldfarb, aka @OfficialSeanPenn She’s hilarious.
bethhoeckelThe summer sandals
by collage queen @bethhoeckel
Chanel’s LED flatforms (£1,430) were the talk of Paris Fashion Week after Karl Lagerfeld used them to light up the runway for his aviation-themed collection. Over to American multimedia artist Beth…
Describe your Instagram
A colourful, vintage-pop-inspired array of surrealist collages and mixed-media art.
Talk us through your pic The sandals are pretty wild, so I made the image more abstract. A straightforward photo collage wouldn’t do these beauties justice.
Where do you find inspiration?
In the unexpected: bizarre old advertisements, snow-capped mountains, colourful sweets...
What’s your golden Insta-rule?
I don’t like to overshare by posting too much.
tunameltsmyheartThe oversized necklace
by funny dog
@tunameltsmyheart
Who better to model one of the season's most striking jewellery pieces - Loewe’s fish necklace (£1,195) - than Instagram’s favourite pooch, Tuna from LA? Owner Courtney Dasher does the snapping.
Describe Tuna’s Instagram Known as the ‘underdog with the overbite’, my rescued chiweenie entertains his 1.7 million followers with sunbathing, fancy dress and bathtime pictures.
Talk us through your pic The fish is almost the size of Tuna, so I thought it would be funny to see the true scale.
What’s your golden Insta-rule? Stay true to yourself. Since Tuna's photos bring joy, I aim to post ones that show his quirky personality and features.
whatshesaidblogThe dazzling tiara
by lifestyle duo @whatshesaidblog
Saint Laurent turned heads with their “grunge tiara”, while Tommy Hilfiger’s show featured a slew of models including Gigi Hadid wearing smaller princess-like tiaras. Set to be THE headwear for summer, sisters Joanna and Sarah Halpin each take on a crown (flower £38 and crystal £78, both Butler & Wilson).
Describe your Instagram A creative outlet for our interests.
Talk us through your pic It made sense to photograph this as a selfie, and we chose a split-screen photo.
Your golden Insta-rule? A simple, neutral colour palette, bright lighting and a clear background.
What's your favourite feed? We love art director @mija_mika's stylish, minimal photos.
fashioninstableThe pretty pumps
by street-chic photographer @fashioninstable
Just when you thought not even Audrey Hepburn could bring back the ubiquitous ballet pump, Miu Miu have made them an object of desire once more by adding feminine ribbons and embellished straps. Modeled here (price on request) by Storm Molinson for fashion Insta-photographer Dvora.
Describe your InstagramA platform for my fashion, beauty and street-style photography.
Talk us through your pic The pumps are pretty yet can easily be toughened up, so I shot Storm wearing them in Shoreditch, London, because I love the vibrancy and colours of the streets. A strong location sets the scene.
Where do you get inspiration from? I love visiting exhibitions and going to different creative talks - learning other people's passion is always inspiring. Of course, Instagram is an amazing visual reference, but its important to ‘look up’ and not get lost in the screen.
Your golden Insta-rule? Post regularly – at least once a day.
hannahcousinsThe statement earrings
by print artist @hannahcousins
Recent earring trends have been minimal and delicate but this season, bold is back. How much is too much? No such thing. Bristol-based Hannah translates S/S16’s earrings (Gucci £710; Prada £200; Marni £300; Emilio Pucci price on request) into her signature lino style.
Describe your InstagramReflections on my work as a printmaker and illustrator, using linocutting.
Talk us through your pic I sketched each earring onto lino then carved them out, applied ink to the relief and pressed it onto handmade paper.
Your golden Insta-rule? Sometimes I need
to remind myself not to take it too seriously.
annarosejayThe designer tracksuit
by visual editor @annarosejay
No longer the preserve of sports coaches and teenagers, the humble tracksuit was all over the catwalks. Anna Jay’s take on the Chloé trackie (£1,125) is totally sharable.
Describe your InstagramSince I decided not to pursue being a full-time photographer, Instagram is the only place I create images I like to share.
Talk us through your picThe lines on the top lent themselves to the graphic, abstract shapes I love.
Where do you get inspiration from? Sunlight, shadows, shapes and colours.
Your golden Insta-rule? Perspective. So instead of a selfie of sunglasses, I’ll hold them up to a blue sky to make it more interesting and colourful.
