How I choose the best thank you gifts & why you can trust me:

Having been a commerce writer for the last three years, and a gift guide writer for just over two, it's fair to say that I'm in the know about the best gifts for anyone (and everyone) on your list. In fact, I was recently asked to share my tips live on on Radio 4, where I suggested we collectively skip novelty socks in exchange for a DIY gift hamper or, you guessed it, a well-considered experience gift.

I've also spent the last six months attending countless press days and have personally chatted with various experts about 2025 shopping trends to ensure I'm clued up on the best Christmas gifts for 2025.

But also, because I wouldn't recommend anything to you that I wouldn't to a pal, I aim to personally review as many products as possible. Once they arrive in my hands, I consider the following:

DesignIs it practical, fit for purpose and aesthetic?
Price pointWould I be willing to spend that much? Is it good quality?
DeliveryHow quickly did it arrive, and what were the associated costs?
GiftabilityWould this make a suitable birthday or Christmas gift? Is it something the recipient actually wants, needs and would enjoy?

Ahead, the best thank you gifts, handpicked by Glamour's gifting editor.

When should I give a thank-you gift?

Thank you gifts are commonly given after receiving help, whether that's hospitality, a job referral, or support milestone, such as a house move or wedding prep. Of course, it's not expected but often appreciated. But even a card outlining how grateful you are and that you'd be keen to return the favour when the time comes is sure to be well received, too.

How much should I spend on a thank-you gift?

That's dependent on the situation and relationship. I also don't like to set rules when it comes to gift giving — whatever feels right! However, if you are looking for some guidance, I would recommend between £5 and £20 for a small favour, up to £50 if they helped with some professional, and for emotional support during those milestone moments, between £50 and £100 could be considered appropriate.
