Spring/summer 2016 beauty trend report: the looks to try now

Spring/Summer 2016 served up an array of exciting new beauty trends, both on the catwalk and behind the scenes.
This season saw the introduction of large eyelashes, in the form of spidery long falsies, and short, sharp comic book styles. Graphic eyeliner also made an appearance on several catwalks including Fendi and Celine.
For lips, it was all about red hues; matte red hues to be exact. And the colour of the season? It has to be blue, which was worn on the eyelids and brow bones with complete confidence.
Take a look below to see the full range of new season SS16 makeup and beauty trends...

The colour of the season? It has to be blue. Just take a look at these gorgeously graphic and glittery eyes at Giambattista Valli.

Blue glitter was used subtly to line the eyelids at Dries Van Noten.

And at Mary Katrantzou, lashes were ocean-blue and spidery: perfect for the summertime.

At Chanel, blue hues were worn in the form of superhero-inspired masks that covered the brows, brow bone and above and below the eyes.

Blue Hues
Messy blue eye makeup appeared at Marc Jacobs.

At most shows, baby blue and pretty pale cobalt shades were preferred by designers. One of our favourite looks came from DVF, where makeup artists experimented with shimmering mermaid-esque teal eyes.

Shocking blue gel liner was used at Hugo Boss, and stood out next to the simple but flawless base and bold brows.

Darker blue tones appeared at shows such as Missoni, which felt just as summery and bold. The product was used almost as a paint, and was taken right up to the models' brows.

At Sonia Rykiel, makeup artists took a more understated approach to the trend with pretty grey-blue hues painted onto the eyes.
IndigitalLarge Lashes
Larger-than-life lashes stole the show at Marni, and confirmed that long falsies and spidery extensions are going to be huge this spring/summer.
IndigitalLarge Lashes
At Louis Vuitton, eyelashes were thick and long, but only on the upper lash line.

Marc Jacobs debuted clumpy bold eyelashes.

At Sibling, eyelashes were emphasised with jet-black thick falsies.

Oversized, spiky and fierce are three words which could describe the lashes at Thomas Tait.

Not up for trying spidery super-long lashes? How about giving kitschy comic-book eyelashes a go? Just follow Louis Vuitton' lead.

Comic Book Lashes
If you're really brave, combine the clumpy-but-cool style with a bright shadow shade, like artists did at Mary Katrantzou.

The trend was taken even further at Jeremy Scott, where lashes were drawn on with jet-black liner and accompanied by feline flicks.
IndigitalMetallics
One of the most memorable beauty moments from SS16 was of course the iconic bold gold lips at Prada, which were created by Pat Mcgrath
and her beloved Gold 001 gold pigment.
IndigitalMetallics
Metallic hues were not just on the rise at Prada. At Kenzo, high-shine nails were shown off when the models hung onto bright cobalt clutch bags.

At Ashish, the trend was interpreted a little differently, with models covered in pastel-hued metallic sequins for their big moment on the catwalk.
IndigitalMetallics
Metallic makeup was taken one step further at Maison Margiela, where shimmering silver product was painted onto the models' brow bones and eyes.
IndigitalMatte Red Lips
The classic red lip was kept matte and bold at shows such as Topshop Unique.

At Jason Wu, brighter hues of red were worn with slicked-back updos and flawless complexions.

Stunning shades of red also appeared at Oscar De La Renta, alongside centre partings and larger-than-life earrings.

Similarly, at Celine, hair and makeup was kept simple aside from the pretty bold lips.

At Dolce & Gabbana, bold matte lips were complimented by the bright shades of the headwear.
IndigitalGraphic Eyes
This season eyes got graphic, especially when it came to liner. At Dolce & Gabbana, the look was subtle, with sleek feline flicks awash on the catwalk.
IndigitalGraphic Eyes
At Fendi, the makeup was even bolder, with liner used to re-create the shape of brows in-between eyes and the models' actual brows.

This look also appeared at Celine, but in a less bold form.
IndigitalBerry Lips
This trend just keeps on giving, and during the SS16 shows, it got even bigger and better. Gothic blackcurrant shades were everywhere backstage at Burberry Prorsum.

Lips were equally as romantic and vampy at Emporio Armani.
GettyBerry Lips
At Anna Sui, the models' lips were berry red, making them less gothic and a little more wearable.

Darker lips were also big at Givenchy, where burgundy hues reigned supreme.
InDigitalGym Skin
Fresh, flawless and glowing 'gym skin' became the most popular style of complexion at many shows this season.
InDigitalGym Skin
At Giambattista Valli, skin was reflective and dewy.
IndigitalGym Skin
Likewise at Versace, strobing techniques were used in order to achieve a special glow.
IndigitalGym Skin
At Isabel Marant, it was all about stripped-back, fresh-faced beauty.
IndigitalGym Skin
Models at Gucci epitomised the gym skin trend, with the girls looking like they had just finished a session at the gym, in the best possible way. Skin was bright, plumped and shiny in all the right places.

While artists backstage at Balmain opted for a slightly heavier coverage, bases were still kept dewy and natural in finish.
IndigitalGym Skin
The look was also presented at Stella McCartney, where pretty waves and nude lips finished off the trend.
IndigitalGym Skin
Highlighted skin was also a big deal at Salvatore Ferragamo.
IndigitalGlossy Lips
While matte red lips made a big impact on many catwalks, lipgloss was the finish of choice at several other shows.
IndigitalGlossy Lips
The look was a little more subtle at Salvatore Ferragamo, with nude lips just slightly glossy.
IndigitalGlossy Lips
At Loewe, rose-hued lips were finished with a subtle gloss-over, too.
