Purple Haze
As pretty, pastel washes of colour make a welcome return for spring, the hottest hue of the coming season sees violet eyes and lavender lips takes centre stage. Purple reigned on the chicest of catwalks for SS10 – with Versace flaunting a sheer wash of watercolour mauve, whilst Marios Schwab opted for a pop of frosted lilac (pictured). Vena Cava and Bottega Venetta built on drama by letting lips do the talking; teaming bold, lavender and violet lipsticks with pared-down skin and eyes for night-time sophistication. By Jessica David

Loud Mouths
Lipstick is big, big news for the coming season (hurrah!) – but move away from the polished glamour of screen siren red for bold pops of colour in fun, playful hues. The bubblegum pinks and sunny oranges at Topshop Unique and Giambattista Valli sure caught our eye, whilst it was the glittered texture of Danielle Scutt lips that mesmerised. DO keep skin fresh and eyes muted to pull off this trend with panache, á la Marc by Marc Jacobs (pictured).

Twiggy Lashes
Lashes are HUGE for the coming season, literally. Catwalks were aflutter with exaggerated 60s-style creations be it the doe-eyed Twiggy-esque lashes of YSL (pictured), the romantic flicks of Miu Miu or the spidery lengths of Erdem. DO channel Edie Sedgwick and the 60s with thick liquid liner on your lid-line and nude lips to really capture the feel of the trend.

Frosted Shimmer
The barefaced chic of past spring / summer catwalks are re-imagined with a modern twist as fresh-faced complexions flaunt frosted touches and wet-look, dewy finishes. Think the pretty sheen of Preen (pictured), the shimmering contours of Pringle and the wet-look lids and lips of Nathan Jenden. DON’T think your archetypical warm, rosy, springtime flushes and instead opt for highlights in frosted white and champagne to nail this trend catwalk-style.
