The best spring 2023 makeup trends from fashion week
If you like to stay ahead of the pack, PFW is bringing the drama for the final stint of fashion month… And rounding up the Spring 2023 makeup trends you need to know, if you're an early adopter. October marks the end of a month-long series of shows across New York, London, Milan and Paris, and it coincides with that autumn mood for a refresh and renewal.
We were due a change of scenery, but as we dust off our velvety lip colours and rich eyeshadow shades for autumn, the folks on the runway are busy giving us a taste of what we've got to look forward to when the sun comes out again next year.
The general vibe? Fun. Glitter has been scattered across the shows – from the eyelids of models at Mark Fast and Halpern, to the lips at Batsheva and the brows at Peter Do.
And bold, bright rainbow bursts of colour have created statement eyes at Prabal Gurung, Alice + Olivia, GCDS and Paul & Joe.
A little too OTT for you? The majority of the beauty looks we've seen so far were kept pretty neutral, with teensy pops of interest for makeup minimalists who like a bit of a twist. At Monse, traditional black liner was swapped out for a streak of lime green. And at Naeem Khan diffused chartreuse eyeshadow embellished lids, but skin and lips looked bare and fresh. Prabal Gurung also gave models an inner eye accent with icy white shadow kept just in the inner corner.
Traditional red lips have been remixed with a smudged rendition at Dilara Findikoglu, patent lips at Christian Siriano and Moschino and pretty petal lips and cheeks at Ulla Johnson, which saw just-bitten colour focused in the centre of lips, then diffused out and a subtle flush applied to cheekbones.
Glam grunge is coming through with soft, smokey eyes at Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford, and moody dagger-shaped liner at Jason Wu, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana.
Want something out-there? Try the forehead paint at Marni, which used the space between brows and hairlines as a canvas to create artwork. Or the XXL lash fringes at Prada. Plus a punk theme emerged with studded skin at Rebecca Minkoff, Versace and Vivetta where models wore faux piercings on their septums.
