The MTV VMAs served some of the best celeb beauty looks we've seen on the red carpet
The MTV VMAs are finally here. There is a reason why the prestigious award ceremony is respected by so many – and watched by many, many more. Every year, the VMAs (Video Music Awards) celebrate some of the biggest musical talents, and every year, the A-list guest-list walk that red carpet showing up and showing out.
This year is no different. This is not one of those events where we expect our favourite celebs and music royalty to play it safe. If you're going to the VMAs, we expect big, daring things. In the past, some of the most iconic beauty looks include the Spice Girls back in 1997 with their heavy smokey eyes and hair looks covering curls, colour, and sky-high ponytails. Or that insane Lil Kim head-to-toe lilac number (you know the one, with the lilac sea shell nipple cover), with the matching lilac wig and glossy lip. Whew!
Can we also talk about Christina Aguilera's dip-dyed red and black hair back in the 00's? Or Rihanna's bold lip and her chic pixie cut debut in 2012? Or Kim Kardashian's 2k16 mermaid hair wet look, which had as on a chokehold ever since? May we also say that the iconic Lady Gaga meat dress needs no reminder? The looks are just too good to count.
And 2022 did not disappoint. Multiple stars were deep in their goth core era, like Lizzo, Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson, with their dark shadow and lips. Then there was Taylor Swift's classic red power lip; Latto's soft glam that we're obsessing over; and Avril Lavigne's orange dip-dyed hair. The girls came to conquer, and conquer they did.

We are still trying to figure out what is in Avril Lavigne's skincare routine to make time stop because she has not aged for around ten years. Taylor Swift 🤝 a power red lip. Taylor went for a safe glossy and piercing red lip, but the XXL winged liner is what is really bringing out those piercing blue eyes of Tay Tay. The middle-parted fringe is giving us that classy Great Gatsby element that complemented the whole beat perfectly. No surprises there though, Taylor and class always go hand in hand.
