11 of the biggest talking points from the Met Gala 2017
When we heard that the Met Gala 2017 theme was to be based on Comme des Garçons founder, Rei Kawakubo, we knew the night would bring its fair share of glamour and drama and we were right.
Last night the stars walked the red carpet in New York dressed in an array of boundary-pushing, radical designs (some notably more popular than others amongst fashion critics) and Hollywood provided plenty of headlines, with a-listers making their couple debuts and of course the annual bathroom selfie taking place. Here, we count the 11 biggest talking points of last night - can we be invited next year, please?
1. Nicki Minaj fangirl-ed everyone and we love it
So, it turns out even celebs can't resist posing in photos with their favourite stars. Nicki Minaj did the rounds at the Met making sure she posed with everyone from Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds (...she actually captioned the picture "I can't. OMG"), Halle Berry ("Did anyone call for a legend? Omg.😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👑") and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen ("Omg I'm gagging 😍"). Starstruck Nicki Minaj is our favourite Nicki Minaj.

2. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd packed on the PDA (and the Hadid's were there...)
In their first public appearance together, Selena and The Weeknd made sure everyone knew just how loved up they are by sharing a kiss on the famous stairs. Bella Hadid, who dated The Weeknd until late last year, was also in attendance alongside her sister Gigi but arrived at different times. Thank God for that eh? We wonder if they all bumped into each other inside... awks.
3. Kylie Jenner owned the annual bathroom selfie
The toilets in the Met Gala have become famous in their own right as the place to gather the biggest A-listers in the world for a group selfie. Kylie Jenner was this year's snapper (hardly surprising right? We'd expect nothing less from the queen of selfies). Her sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian, P.Diddy, Lily Aldridge and Paris Jackson all got in on the action amongst others.

4. Wig? Nah.
Wigs were one of the biggest beauty looks from the Met this year but in true Cara Delevingne style, the model-turned-actress did her own thing and rocked a silver spray paint over her newly shaved head instead. Didn't she look badass?
5. Sarah Paulson, we totally get it
We'll level with you. We were all Sarah Paulson when Madonna walked the carpet last night. The 42-year-old actress quite literally let her jaw drop after clocking eyes on Madge in her head-to-toe camouflage get-up and we can relate. Perhaps not the icon's best look to date...
6. Internet reacts: Bella Hadid's jumpsuit
Not one to shy away from bold red carpet choices (remember that Cannes dress), Bella rocked up to this year's Met Gala in a jewelled jumpsuit that revealed, well, just about everything. The internet naturally waded in with their outfit verdicts. Some say she "slayed" - others, well, they said these sorts of things...

7. P. Diddy needed a disco nap
Yep, P. Diddy couldn't resist laying down on the stairs of the Met while his girlfriend, Cassie, made her grand entrance. He later tweeted "I was getting tired so I laid down on the stairs!!! #METGALA". Sure.
8. We missed you Beyoncé
Every year we look forward to seeing what Queen B will wear but this year, it was not to be. The star was noticeably absent - does this mean she's given birth to her twins? Stay tuned...
9. Paint the town red.
Yes, despite an array of diverse dresses, red was undeniably the colour of the evening. Lena Dunham, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Emma Roberts, Rose Byrne and Joan Smalls were just some of the big names to wear it.
10. The year of the loved up couples
Love was in the air last night. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd weren't the only couple to share a smooch on the carpet. Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady puckered up too and countless couples decided to walk the carpet hand-in-hand. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez made their official debut, Serena Williams proudly showed off her blossoming baby bump alongside her fiancé, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were providing usual #goals and Ryan Reynolds waxed lyrical about his wife Blake Lively to Humans of New York interviewer, Brandon Stanton.

11. Rihanna is the Queen of the Met. Fact.
Yep, unofficially she already gained this title in 2015 when she wore the yellow cape that spawned a thousand omelette memes, but last night when she arrived in an abstract, petal Comme des Garcons dress with laced boots (that took an hour to get into) there was no denying Rih Rih owned the Met. People went wild on social media for it.
