If these influencers say maxi skirts are in, then so do we
Investing in hard-working pieces and building my capsule wardrobe has given me a new-found appreciation for good basics like maxi skirts. Once an item I'd reserve solely for wearing on holiday, they're now something I lean on far more regularly. Yep, even in winter.
Turns out I'm not alone, either. Midi skirts have long reigned supreme in the hemline arena, with mini skirts rearing their head every so often, but if the runways of fashion's greatest names are anything to go by (and they are), then the tides have turned and maxi skirts for women are taking their crown.
Christian Dior showcased an army of maxi-length hemlines in shades of beige and winter white, and Sacai took to low-waisted versions of the silhouette while Giambattista Valli opted for the embellished route for autumn/winter. Even Chanel gave maxi skirts the nod of approval with ankle-skimming tweed iterations. If it's a yes from them...

Outside of catwalk collections it seems celebrities and influencers have taken to the trend via the medium of denim. Elsa Hosk and Gigi Hadid have been donning the style since September, when designers first debuted their collections, but that hasn't stopped the rest of the fashion scene from bringing it into the new year.

While double denim seems obvious (and perhaps a tad too close to 2001 Britney and Justin territory for comfort), try styling yours with a midriff-baring crop top or oversized shirt and heels or boots. For more winter weather-appropriate attire, though, look to knitted maxi skirts by way of DÔEN, The Row, Zara and NA-KD and turn to your trusty blazer and turtleneck for that layered, tailored finish.
