Lizzo's makeup artist shares her Grammys beauty prep including peach fuzz removal and £8 false eyelashes
It's not all luxury facials and pina coladas behind the scenes at the Grammys (though there's plenty of that, too). Nope, alongside the fancy mani-pedis, some stars are willing to show the lengths that go into making them look spectacular come red-carpet time.
One such example? Lizzo, whose makeup artist, Alexx Mayo, valiantly documented the prep involved. Before releasing his celeb client out into the glare of HD cameras, he employed a sneaky trick to ensure her skin looked its best, namely a quick facial trim to remove peach fuzz.
On his stories he wrote "starting off with getting rid of peach fuzz and dead skin with @dermaflash". The process, known as dermaplaning, sees the top layer of skin and hair cells shaved from complexions to provide a silky smooth base – proof that a little bit of lip hair happens to the best of us.
As for the rest of Lizzo's pre-awards makeover? It's surprisingly low maintenance. Mayo let us in on the skincare he used to keep her skin looking impossibly glowy – a refreshingly inexpensive option in the form of Versed skincare's Skin Soak Rich Moisturise Cream, £16.
Her epic smoky eye was finished off with Urban Decay's Neon Moon shadow from the Party Favor Palette, £25. But, perhaps the thriftiest finishing touch was the £8 false lashes Mayo called upon to max out her lashes, courtesy of Kiss's Lash Couture Luxtensions Collection in Velvet.
It's not the first time Lizzo's turned things up on the red carpet. From dramatic rainbow eyes to the bright pink hair she rocked at last year's Met Gala, the singer is forever inspiring us to be more daring with our makeup.
