LFW S/S 13 Beauty Blog: Inside View

MAC Senior Artist Pablo Rodriguez's guest blogs for Glamour live from backstage at LFW.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label
The look that Val Garland created for Vivienne Westwood Red Label was inspired by pop art paintings by Andy Warhol, and icons like HRH the Queen, Debbie Harry and Liz Taylor. Some models had natural colour foundations, while others had pastels as a base, mixing MAC Acrylic Paints in yellow, orange, pink or lilac with the foundation.
On the eyes, MAC Chromaline in Cyan, was applied in painterly strokes. Liner and eyebrows were stamped on the face using MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. On the lips a selection of different colours were used, mainly red and fuchsia.

Holly Fulton
The inspiration for the look that Andrew Gallimore created for the Holly Fulton show was surfer/skater girls that lived in Los Angeles in the 60s.
The skin was kept warm and matte, mannequin like, like a soft tan. There was no makeup on the eyes or eyebrows, just some freckles painted across the cheeks and the bridge of the nose using MAC Eyebrow pencils in Lingering and Stud. The big focus was on the lips. On the corners a mix of MAC Lipmix in Fuchsia and White was applied. And in the centre a pop of Lipmix Orange, without blending it with the bright pink.

Michael Van Der Ham
Key Makeup artist Lauren Parsons created the look for Michael Van Der Ham. On the skin we used MAC Face and Body Foundation, with Cream Colour Base in Pearl as a highlighter on the cheekbones and a mix of Cremeblend Blushers in Posey and Ladyblush in the apples of the cheeks.
On the eyes, a wash of creme eyeshadow in Must Have Brown from the Spring Summer 13 Trend Eye Pallete, that is a sheer metallic grey brown, and eyeshadow in Digit to give a lilac cold undertone. The lips were a true bright pure orange, using Cream Colour Base Virgin Isle mixed with Lipmix Orange.
