The Duchess of Cambridge rewears her favourite Alexander McQueen gown to the BAFTAs making a major sustainable statement
The 2020 BAFTAs is well underway, with the likes of Margot Robbie, Florence Pugh and Rooney Mara already stunning on the red carpet.
But the best-dressed-bar just got raised a notch, as the Duchess of Cambridge made her entrance alongside Prince William.
Arriving at the steps of the Royal Albert Hall wearing Alexander McQueen, savvy fans of both the Duchess and designer no doubt felt a slight sense of déjà vu.
Rewearing a gown she previously stunned in at opulent state dinner in Malaysia back in 2012, the dress made a major sustainable statement.
This year, BAFTA have acknowledged the often-frivolous nature of red carpet fashion and requested that guests 'make sustainable choices on the red carpet' as they aim for a carbon neutral ceremony and work towards a positive impact on the environment.
Not her first foray at the BAFTAs, tonight in fact marked the pair's fourth consecutive appearance since their debut in 2017. And, unsurprisingly, each time welcomed another extraordinary dress.
Opting for a dress that remains to this day one of her best ever, the Duchess arrived on the ceremony's red carpet in 2017 decked out in a black Bardot-shouldered gown with floral print-work and tiered, ribboned cinching by Alexander McQueen.
The following year, heavily pregnant with Prince Louis, she opted for an elegant forest green number with a black ribbon waistband by the British designer Jenny Packham. Going all out with the accessories this year, Kate paired the gown with dramatic, emerald earrings set within a floral border of diamonds and a dazzling drop necklace featuring four emerald stones.
In 2019 the Duchess returned to Alexander McQueen, via a breathtaking one-shouldered white gown with floral detailing, delicate draping and a waistband, giving us all major bridal #feels.
See? She nails it every year. If only Kate Middleton would make an appearance on all red carpets... No one does it like the Duchess.
