How to colour correct and the kits you need to turn pro
Colour correcting can seem rather confusing. It's no longer just about a regular concealer or cc cream that matches your skin tone; from reds to purples, there are a whole array of shades to treat all of your concerns.
So, just what is colour correcting? BareMinerals International Makeup Artist, SJ Froom, clears it up a little: "Colour correcting follows the principle that certain colours will neutralise colours opposite to them on the colour wheel."
To make it easier and much clearer, these are the shades and where they should be used:
Green - Green correctors cancel out any redness. They can therefore be used anywhere, but are usually applied around the nose, under concealer to cover a red blemish, or on any areas of rosacea.
Purple - Purple shades brighten skin and neutralise any yellow areas. We suggest using purple anywhere where skin appears dull, from the cheeks to under the eyes.
Yellow - Yellow works best under the eyes as it brightens dark circles. You can also use it on hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
Orange and reds - these neutralise blues and purples - so are great for severe under-eye circles, veins, or even covering tattoos.
