No stranger to serving up some festive delight in the form of a wardrobe 'must-have' (or ten), H&M had a far trickier task on its hands this season than it has in previous years.
With a severe lack of 'Christmas parties' for which to dress people, the high street stalwart needed to gauge the mood and provide pieces we'd all be itching to snap up and wear wherever we should be spending the holidays.
Unsurprisingly, it did just that. Preempting our mood before we even did ourselves, H&M's autumn/winter collection is a smorgasbord of cost knits, duvet coats and winter dresses featuring - crucially - key design details that render them far more than 'staple' winter 'basics'. Because, after the most tumultuous year in our lifetime (surely?) wearing nothing but joggers and sweatshirts, the last thing we want to be wearing to celebrate Christmas is a basic staple. Even we are cheers-ing our Grandparents over a roast turkey on Zoom.
Wherever - and however - we're allowed to get into the festive spirit this season, we're doing so in style. And that doesn't mean a super fancy dress or - God forbid - a heel (does anyone even remember what those are any more?), but rather an elevated take on our most beloved styles.
