The Skin
I am a huge fan of facial massage – it encourages blood flow to the skin, eases puffiness and stimulates facial muscles. The instant benefits are a sculpted face, lifted cheekbones and an incredible glow, but I firmly believe it's a great long-term anti-ager. I did a course of three 30 minute facial massages at Face Gym in the 3 weeks leading up to the awards and I am so in love with the results that I will try to keep it up. At £35 pounds a session, it's an affordable luxury (cheaper than a facelift for sure.)
The Makeup
My go-to evening look is smoky eyes – I rarely wear bright lips. But as I was wearing a tuxedo suit, I wanted to channel a Helmut Newton vibe with pale skin, lightly defined eyes and a kick-ass red lip. I can't stand gloss, so I found the perfect matte red in Charlotte Tilbury KISSING in 'So Marilyn', £23. As the awards is a sit down dinner, I needed the colour to stay put, so lips were filled in with matching Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Lip Cheat in Kiss n'Tell, £16 and then lipstick layered on top with a lip-brush.
The Hair
Here is a picture with my two hair gurus George Northwood and Adam Reed – these guys are total geniuses and make my hair look effortless (though it isn't!). Adam did a colour touch up last week, darkening my roots slightly, which works really well with the pale skin. For the style, we decided to break the formality of the suit and go for a grungy wave. George used a large barreled tong and kept roots and ends out so it doesn't look too done. Loads of Redken Quick Tease, £12.64 gave guts in the roots, while mid-length to ends got a generous dose of Redken Power Grip, £11.16 to mattify and make it look a bit worn in.

The Lashes
I went to Lash Perfect and tried out lash extensions for the first time and after five minutes of having them on, I was hooked. After measuring my natural lashes, the technician chose extensions that were the same length – the only difference being that they had a gorgeous curl, unlike my naturally straight ones! I love that I can now skip the mascara step in my makeup routine. But the best part is that it’s actually made me want to wear less eye makeup as the lashes speak for themselves! I’m already booked in for in-fills once they have grown out with my natural lashes in about two weeks.

The Makeup
Former MAC makeup artist Lois Moorcroft did my makeup for the event and I loved the results. She chose to do a bronze smoky eye to go with my blue eyes (brown makes blue pop!), a nude lip and subtle pink cheek. She was super-quick and listened to exactly what I wanted to achieve with my makeup. I loved the way she added a subtle rusty shade in my eye sockets for definition – I’ll be trying this at home for sure – and the By Terry Rose de Rose Sheer Liquid Blush is now on the top of my must-have list.

The Hair
I wanted an updo for the awards as I wear my hair down everyday so I visited Claire at Headmasters. She created a chic ‘tucked under’ style that was loose at the front but still neat enough to stay up all night. It almost looked like a faux bob from the side which I loved and I enjoyed trying something different with my hair.

The Makeup
I've had my makeup done professionally a couple of times before and have never felt totally comfortable. But – and it's a big but - the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges changed all of that. My makeup artist Kelly recreated 'The Dolce Vita' look on me using Charlotte Tilbury Colour Coded Eyeshadow in The Dolce Vita and Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black.
The Makeup
My skin was the best I'd ever seen it and for once I felt confident in statement eye makeup. Oh and of course sipping on champagne while being pampered made it all that more fabulous (darling!)
The Tan
For me personally - everything looks better when I have a tan. And when it's a James Harknett tan? Well I'm guaranteed a seamless golden glow. And that's exactly what I got. I went to the W Hotel the night before the awards for a Sienna X spray tan with Mr. Harknett himself. You know you've had a great spray tan when someone asks where you've been on holiday! Final Look
I know it's cliché but I really believe you only look as good as you feel. With my makeup done, hair blow-dried at the ever fabulous George Northwoods new salon and skin glowing to the max courtesy of Skin Deep Golden Elixir £45 This Works – the only thing left was to put on my dress. Cue my big highlight. I got to wear a Victoria Beckham dress from net-a-porter.com – there's nothing like the perfect black dress to make you feel a million dollars.

The Skin
My prep for woman of the year awards started 3 weeks before the big night. To get my skin glowing and blemish free I went to Gina Conway’s salon and had an amazing Skin Renewing facial. They cleansed and toned my face finishing off with a pore-cleansing mask-to extract any dirt from under the skin…it was heavenly! I loved my skin the next day and have been using Aveda's Deep Cleansing Herbal Clay Masque (£28.50) every week since, and I've really noticed a difference in my complexion.
Ok so my intended hairstyle for last night was a French plait (inspired by Joan Smalls at the Met Gala) but I just couldn’t find the courage. My hair is my safety blanket and to feel your best it’s always good to stick to what you know. I have very thick, long hair so it is hard to hold in curls but Claire at headmasters came to my rescue and I LOVED my final look. Using tongs, Claire curled and pinned sections of my hair and then after a lot of hairspray took the pins out leaving me with cascading curls. To soften them she combed my hair with a bore bristle brush leaving me with gorgeous un-done waves.
The Nails
I love getting my nails done before going out- it always makes me feel polished and chic. My favourite nail Boutique is Sophie Gass in Holland Park and I was so lucky to spend the afternoon there and get a gorgeous mani pedi. On my hands I wanted to keep it simple- I wore Shellac in ‘Beau’ CND.

And for my toes I only ever wear red so I chose Nail Polish in ‘Really Red’ Essie.
The Makeup
I normally never like getting my makeup done professionally but when I was offered to get my makeup done at the Charlotte Tilbury counter I couldn’t refuse. Charlotte’s niece Sofia Tilbury re-created the Golden Goddess look, which left me contoured. Golden eyed and with a perfect pink pout. I loved it so much that I did contemplate sleeping in it but being a good beauty girl I resisted.
