Maya Jama has gone bright blonde and totally rocks it

It's always fun to experiment with different hairstyles and shades, and one of the most common hair colour swaps is blonde to brunette (or vice versa...).
So many celebrities and famous faces (such as Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lawrence and Ariana Grande) have tried both shades a go, but the question is, which suits the, better? We took it upon ourselves to find out...
Do these A-Listers look better with dark and daring brunette hair or tresses a shade lighter?
@mayajama / InstagramMaya Jama just went and unearthed a totally new hair colour - bright blonde. No stranger to mixing things up in the beauty stakes, Maya pulls this look off with aplomb.

Maya has long championed darker, glossy hair and we're sure she'll be returning to this hue for winter. Luckily for the model and presenter, she works both colours to perfection.
Rex FeaturesAs if she couldn't look more badass, Cara went brunette - and we're loving the amber-hued dark shade on her.
Getty ImagesThe lovely Lucy Hale has experimented with her hair a fair bit lately, from her 'shag' 70s haircut to different shades...
Getty ImagesIncluding this blonde look! We adore the hair shade paired with a dark vampy look, too.

Brooklyn Beckham is naturally a blonde, but the eldest son of David and Victoria has gone for a whole new look...

... Yep, he's reached for the bottle. The peroxide bottle, that is. His lighter locks could be a result of a summer abroad but the transformation is pretty extreme. Regardless, we love his new summer look.
Getty ImagesPretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell has always been a brunette - at least, as long as we can remember.
Getty ImagesBut she recently switched things up and chose a lighter hair shade. We think she looks utterly stunning with blonde locks.
Getty ImagesBella Heathcoate mixed things up recently by trialling a darker hair hue. We do like this look...
Getty Images... but kind of prefer her as a blonde! A lighter shade suits her skin tone really well.
Getty ImagesShailene Woodley is another actress to have tried out several different hair shades - but do you prefer her as a brunette...
Getty Images... or a blonde?

So imagine our shock when she stepped out like this! It's no surprise that Cara effortlessly pulls off both blonde and brown hair with panache. We're going to get some brown dye STAT.

We're as used to seeing Cara Delevingne's trademark blonde locks as we're used to seeing her silly poses, awesome trainer collection and cheeky selfies.
Rex FeaturesSo just imagine our surprise when the gorgeous model stepped out with this beautiful dark and moody brunette hue - looking like Lily Collins' sister in the process!
Rex FeaturesSince bursting on to the catwalk Suki Waterhouse's hair has been a blend of blonde beach babe meets red carpet goddess. Aside from the tousled aesthetic and the cute little side plaits, it's the choppy in-your-eyes fringe that has spawned a thousand copycats.
Rex FeaturesOlivia Palermo's impossibly thick and naturally lustrous hair has made her one of our longtime hair icons and don't get us started on that rich and glossy chestnut hue...
Getty ImagesBut since she tied the knot, Liv has opted for a summery update to her signature hair with this gorgeous honey-hued colour. We particularly love the choppy face-framing highlights around the front, too.
PA PhotosMargot Robbie shot to fame in 2013 thanks to her role as Leo's wife Naomi in The Wolf Of Wall Street, as a gorgeous platinum blonde.
PA PhotosBut Margot decided to change up her signature blonde locks just ahead of the biggest night in Hollywood in early 2014 - the Oscars. The Australian beauty debuted a rich and dark brunette hairstyle. A beauty risk, yes, but a total winner in our eyes.
PA PhotosElizabeth Olsen was another one change it up in the hair department in 2014 when switched up her Olsen-trademarked honey blonde locks for a decidedly different hue...
NBCU Photo Bank via Getty ImagesFor her role in the second The Avengers installment, the 25-year-old made light work of an uber glossy brunette hair colour. We love it!
Rex FeaturesCarey Mulligan has been lighting up red carpets with her chic platinum blonde crop for as long as we can remember.
PA PhotosBut in September 2013, the blonde was no more when the Brit beauty stepped out with this lovely warm brunette hair hue in New York. We just can't get over how young Carey looks, here!
Rex FeaturesJennifer Lawrence: caramel-haired beauty, Best Actress Oscar winner, and all-round GLAMOUR girl crush.
Getty ImagesBut as much as she's naturally fair-haired with gorgeous Cali beachy waves, when she's filming The Hunger Games and she's back hard at work as Katniss Everdeen, J-Law's all about the deep, chocolate locks.
Rex FeaturesActress Zosia Mamet plays shy brunette Shoshanna Shapiro, who has a penchant for out-there hairdos - in the hit TV show GIRLS.
Rex FeaturesIn February 2013 though, that all changed when Zosia swapped natural brown for knockout blonde. We're loving the different blond hues with the long length - an excellent example of how a dramatic colour change can really work.
PA PhotosReese Witherspoon, is another Hollywood native who’s famous for their natural-looking golden blonde tresses.

But when Reese went brunette for her role as June Carter in her Oscar-winning role in Walk The Line, she showed that her signature locks looked just as a great with a rich brunette hue, too. Jealous? Us? Never.

Scarlett Johansson is basically the blonde bombshell of Hollywood, whose blonde locks are regularly whipped into a retro-fabulous 'do for the red carpet.

As if a little thing like hair colour was going to ruin Scarlett’s charm – playing deepest, chocolatey brown to perfection, Scar-Jo kept the look firmly A-list when she dabbled in the art of dark hair way back in 2008.
PA PhotosWe've been coveting Sienna Miller's golden locks since we were in school.
PA PhotosBut being a stylista who can change up her look in a second without missing a beat, it's been little surprise to see the actress be able to change up her naturally blonde locks to brunette a few times over the years with signature gusto.
Rex FeaturesRocking her signature body-beautiful, half-up/half-down ‘do with a rich and glossy dark brown hair hue is Ariana's beauty bread and butter.
Rex FeaturesAt the 2013 Grammy's though, Ariana dabbled with honey blonde at this year’s Grammys - and we likey.
Rex FeaturesKim Kardashian = dark brunette hair goddess and this appearance for the 2014 VMAs was no exception. Wearing her chocolate locks in a choppy shoulder-length style, her hair looked pretty fantastic in this sleek-yet-tousled centre-parted style.
Rex FeaturesBut if you thought that Kim's post-pregnancy dip-dye was the first time she had experimented with blonder locks, how wrong you were. The naturally brunette beauty hit the bottle for a month or two way back in 2009, as well.
Rex FeaturesFor the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscars party, a blush chiffon and velvet gown got the Hollywood beauty treatment from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the form of big bouncy curls and an uh-may-ZING highlighted blonde hair hue.
Rex FeaturesBut Rosie's not really a natural blonde. Oh no, despite making the lighter hue her hair signature this gorgeous light brunette 'do from 2010 is nearer her natural colour and we reckon she's rocking both colours like a pro!
Rex FeaturesAnne Hathaway is practically synonymous with that gorgeously rich chestnut hair hue.
PA PhotosSo imagine our utter surprise when Anne debuted a fully-loaded platinum blonde style at the 2013 Met Ball just weeks after winning that Oscar. Although this new look divided critics, we loved this edgier look on the American beauty.
PA PhotosAnother Strictly star with a well-known hair 'do is Frankie Sandford, whose gently highlighted pixie crop with mega side-swept fringe is the singer's killer beauty trademark.
Rex FeaturesBut proving that she's no beauty one-trick-pony, Frankie switched it up in 2010, lightening up her locks to this sunny golden hair hue.
PA PhotosSJP is a hair hero and we've known and loved her as a blonde for absolutely yonks.

PA PhotosJulia Roberts' copper red locks have been her trademark since she first made her name in Hollywood over twenty years ago and whilst she’s changed up her look a few times, it’s her flaming red hair that has remained her beauty trademark.
Rex FeaturesBut Jules was another A-Lister to change all that before the 2014 Oscars as the then-nominee was snapped sporting not those gorgeous long, russet locks but a completely new platinum blonde ‘do. Proving that she’s a hair chameleon, we have to admit, Julia owned this new look.
PA PhotosThis is Natalie Portman as we've pretty much always known and loved her - as a stunning warm-toned brunette.
PA PhotosSo imagine our surprise when the actress stepped out in LA with this golden-blonde style! Talk about a transformation.
