Birthday celebrations, for a shoe? We're here for it. When a style has made as much impact on the red carpet as the iconic Casadei Blade Heel, reaching a 10 year milestone is definitely a date to celebrate. These sharp, steel heels from the Italian footwear powerhouse are certainly edgier than your average stiletto and give a slick gravitas to any outfit. But don’t just take our word for it… there’s a galaxy of stars who agree with the power of the Blade too.
J-Lo, Cara Delevingne, Olivia Culpo, Angelina, Hailey, Dua, Lourdes Leon and Madonna have all worn Blades on the red carpet - and off it - and that celeb seal of approval has helped propel these shoes into the realms of cult classic. Launched in 2012 by Cesare Casadei, each season sees a new iteration of the style and the birthday collection focuses on transparent vinyl and monochrome cut-out details (along with a fabulous shoot by Ellen Von Unwerth showing them off.)

Even though the last couple of years have seen our trainer habit spiral as we spent our days in tracksuits, heels are back with a bang. Arianna Casadei, Head of Marketing and Communication thinks the Blade is an enduring classic. “(They) are feminine… the ultimate essence of a woman who wants to be sexy and powerful, but at the same time timeless and elegant.”
They’re versatile too as their pump silhouette makes them work for every occasion, even if you’re not attending a film premiere anytime soon (hey, us neither.) “The Blade could be worn for an elegant dinner in NY, an aperitivo in Milano, a summer party in LA or an art event in London,” advises Arianna. We’d style them with our favourite jeans and a blazer for brunch or one of the new crop of sexy LBDs for a night Out Out.
For the final flourish, can shoes make a birthday wish? Although almost every A-Lister on the planet has worn the Casadei Blade heel, Arianna would love to see Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande wearing the shoes sometime soon. We reckon they'll be kicking up their (Blade) heels sharp-ish.
