5 best cotton bras 2026, if breathable support is the brief
Featured in this article
It's the kind of maternal advice I actively ignored in my early 20s: drink more water, eat organic veg, and wear the best cotton bras. While I thought of her warnings as redundant, I now realise my mum had good intentions — to ensure that my chest was supported and rarely sweaty. Plus, who doesn't want the opportunity to flex their sustainable shopping habits, too?
Yep, for those interested, synthetics (polyester and nylon) can shed microplastics, while cotton is a natural, biodegradable fibre. Plus, to make organic cotton, the manufacturers skip harmful pesticides and often use less water, too.
It's only now, as I fast approach my 30s, that I'm working on the latter. After years of wearing polyester push-up bras and flimsy crop tops that allowed my boobs to head south, I've decided it's time to invest.
However, 100% cotton bras aren't the easiest to come by — especially if you have a fairly tight budget. But, being a shopping writer who specialises in functional fashion, I've spent the last three months calling in a host of cotton bras in various cup sizes to see which are worth your cash. And yes, that includes breathable t-shirt bras, wirefree bralettes and cotton bras for bigger busts from lingerie brands like Boux Avenue, Pour Moi, Calvin Klein and Marks & Spencer.
So, read on to discover the best pure cotton bras to shop now. And if you need comfy pants, I've already found the best cotton underwear, as well as supportive sports bras and nursing bras, too.
Ahead, the best cotton bras in 2026, reviewed by Glamour's functional fashion writer:
How I test the best cotton bras:
As a shopping writer, it's my job to test fashion essentials, viral beauty and the latest wellness launches to see whether they, first, live up to their designers' claims, and secondly, are worth your cash. Each cotton bra — whether that be a cotton t-shirt bra, triangle bra or plunging style — was worn at least three times before I reviewed it against the following criteria:
| Functionality | Did the bra stay put, provide some support and give me the desired shape? Did I have any issues in terms of slipping, twisting or irritation? |
| Design | Is the bra aesthetic and comfortable? How many options do I have in terms of colour and pattern? And what was each bra made of — is the material sustainable and breathable? |
| Price point | Would I be willing to spend that much again? Is it of good quality? |
| Delivery | How quickly did the bra arrive, and what were the associated costs? |
I also tried them underneath close-fitting t-shirts, white shirts, and summer dresses to see whether they were noticeable, and delivered a flattering lift.
Where I haven't yet had the chance to personally review a style myself, I asked my colleagues for their recommendations and scoured countless customer reviews for points of note. Unsurprisingly, only the chest supports that impressed all around made it into this edit.
In terms of what I'm currently testing, stay tuned for these reviews:
Why you can trust me:
I've been reviewing underwear, shapewear, activewear, and wellness products, including cotton underwear, sports bras, and period pants, for almost three years — that's one year at Women's Health and 18 months at Glamour. During that time, I've seen countless trends and advancements, as well as a boom in our options.
To ensure I am an authority on all things functional fashion, I regularly attend press launches and interview clothing designers or brand founders, quizzing them on common FAQs and shopping tips.
I also personally review as many new releases as possible. Ahead of my summer holidays, I've been reviewing bras from the likes of Boux Avenue, Lounge, H&M and Marks & Spencer to see which styles support my 34DD chest best — and have even worn them for a full work day in the office. While I tend to favour a full-cup, wired style, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to test a host of cotton bras in various cuts and colours before compiling this edit.
