4 breakthrough brands from the GLAMOUR Beauty Power List Awards 2022 that you’ll be *obsessed* with
Whilst we continued to play with old favourites and cult classics, we were also introduced to plenty of new breakthrough brands this year, with some long-awaited arrivals that impressed us from the second they landed on UK soil.
In the past year, we were lucky enough to get our hands on some exciting celebrity beauty brands including Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty (which beauty fans were immediately besotted with). And on the skincare front, we were introduced to a totally new brand, Byoma – who are on a mission to repair the nation’s impaired skin barriers.
So, which has won our expert panel's nominations and your votes, as the favourite breakthrough brands of 2022? Read on to see the Breakthrough winners in four categories, from best makeup to best fragrance – all are worth checking out if you haven't already.

Best breakthrough makeup brand
Selena Gomez’s brand Rare Beauty launched in the UK and Ireland in February 2022 and it became an instant hit with beauty enthusiasts. The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, Kind Words Lipstick and Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner were favourites among the collection and immediately found a permanent residence in your – plus the GLAMOUR editors’ – makeup bags. All of this makes it a very worthy winner of the GLAMOUR Breakthrough Makeup Brand of the year.

Best breakthrough skincare brand
Byoma burst onto the skincare scene earlier this year to help repair our skin barriers, and boy, has it done a good job. The brand prides itself on being accessible, affordable, and approachable in its education, price point and friendly marketing. Less than a year after launching, its messaging and easy-to-use products have TikTok (and GLAMOUR readers) hooked.

Best breakthrough fragrance brand
It’s long been known that beauty entrepreneur Rihanna smells better than any other celebrity (in fact, probably any person on earth) and it’s no surprise that many Fenty fans want to smell just as good. The sellout success of Fenty Eau de Parfum won your votes, claiming GLAMOUR’S best new fragrance brand 2022 award. The scent has both spicy and sweet notes – including magnolia, musk, tangerine and Bulgarian rose – all of which are middle notes, meaning you smell them together, versus in stages.

It’s fair to say that The Ordinary changed the world of skin as we knew it, pushing innovation and boundaries like never before. So, when it was announced the brand was launching hair care, the anticipation to see if it lived up to its skincare expertise was huge. We can now reveal that, according to industry experts – and you – it did live up to every expectation. Hero products include the Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density, Sulphate 4% Cleanser For Body And Hair and Behentrimonium Chloride 2% Conditioner.
