7 makeup trends to take home from Milan Fashion Week

Despite the name, fashion month is just as much about the beauty as the clothes. The runway is where trends like winged eyeliner, bold brows and no makeup makeup were originally born.
Following on from London's glitter extravaganza, here are the beauty looks we spotted and loved in Milan...

There were some serious mermaid vibes at Emporio Armani, with a mixture of matte black and shimmery turquoise eyeshadow. But it was the punchy silver spot in the inner corner of the eyes that really made a statement. It's eye highlighting on steroids.
Getty Images / REXThe same pop of silver was seen at Tommy Hilfiger, but this time it was paired with a subtle eyeliner flick. Safe to say if you already own a highly-pigmented silver pencil, you'll see a lot of use out of it this spring/summer.

We've seen a re-emergence of the black smoky eye on the runway and are ready to welcome it back into our Friday night glam kit with open arms. To get a crisp-angled edge like the one seen at Max Mara, complete your eye makeup first so you can clean up the edge with a cotton bud before applying foundation.

You'd think red on eyes would be a no-go, but this wine shade of liner looked fierce at Roberto Cavalli. It was kept simple on the top lid; a reverse flick added extra oomph on the bottom. Coloured undereyes were also a big beauty trend at Paris Couture Week.

A teeny weeny eyeliner flick was spotted at Emilio Pucci - because sometimes less is more when it comes to liner.

On the opposite end of the spectrum was the graphic shadow at Prada. Models wore shades of pink and blue dramatically winged up and outwards past the brow. David Bowie would be proud.
Getty Images / REXThe bottom lid was lined with a slightly darker pencil and diamantes were the final touch that took this look from wow to HOT DAMN.

There was plenty of red lip inspo at Dolce & Gabbana, with shades matched to each model to 'enhance their sensuality' – ooo errr.
Getty Images / REXThe colours ranged from vibrant reds like such as Devil 620 or Scarlett 625...

Skin was centre stage at Victor Virgile, with an honest glow that can only come from the layering of hydrating skincare, little-to-no foundation and concealer in just the right places. Brows were brushed up and natural, no powder or pencil in sight.
