13 Reasons Why is losing a key character, as explained in the cast member’s heartfelt note
13 Reasons Why is no doubt one of the most talked-about shows of the past couple of years since launching on Netflix in March 2017. The teen drama, based on Jay Asher’s same-titled 2007 novel, divided opinions due to its controversial storylines revolving around suicide, rape, bullying and mental health.
While some criticised the show for mishandling the sensitive subject of suicide, others argued that it was upsetting but important, and the show has continued to split audiences during its second season.
While the future of the show is unknown, one cast member has said goodbye to the show after wrapping the second season. Katherine Langford, who played the first season's main character, Hannah Baker, has bid farewell to the role, writing a heartfelt message on Instagram.
Accompanied by a mural from the series, she wrote:
"Hannah...I love you...and I let you go" Those are the words I was able to say six months ago, and now can finally share with you...As most of you know @13reasonswhy was my first ever job and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to tell Hannah's story so fully in season 1, and to be asked back for a season 2. Thank you to @netflix @paramountpics @anoncontent, the incredible producers, creatives, cast and crew for making these last 2 years so special. And to all of you here - Thank you for filling my life with love and light This show will always be a special part of my life, and regardless of whether Hannah is there or not, I know that I will continue to strive to do work that is meaningful and has a positive impact - whether that be in film, music, or any other form of art. There is a lot coming up this next year, and I can't wait to share it with you #hannahbaker"

According to her IMDB, Katherine is currently working on Spontaneous, which is in pre-production and follows the story of a teen who could spontaneously burst into flames at any moment.
It isn't yet known if there will be a season 3, but season 2 has focused on many of the other characters, including Clay, Jess and Tyler, as well as some newer cast members. Here are the new actors who made the lineup:
