Back in June, Mykonos got an extra sprinkle of stardust on Monday as celebrities from around the world descended on the idyllic Greek island to celebrate Zimmermann’s resort collection
We caught up with one of Zimmermann’s faces, Yerin Ha, who has already stepped into big-budget shows with loyal followings such as Halo and Dune: Prophecy, and is now set to play Benedict Bridgerton's love interest, Sophie Baek, a noble-turned-maid in the upcoming season of Bridgerton, coming to Netflix in early 2026. The new series is set to drop in two parts, with four episodes dropping on 29 January and four more on 26 February.
The celebrated Australian resortwear label hosted an epic getaway with their brand ambassadors, which included the likes of Olivia Wilde, Emma Roberts and Storm Reid, all dressed in the brand’s iconic paisley dresses and sunset-coloured goddess gowns.
Already gracing covers and campaigns (she recently became a Chanel ambassador and attended the French maison’s Paris Fashion Week autumn/winter 2025 show), Yerin’s star is on the rise.
Yerin is gracious and glowing in casual palazzo trousers and sandals as we sit poolside at her hotel. You could never have guessed that she’d flown halfway across the world just the day before and wasn’t feeling her fittest when she landed.
Effusive and warm, she credits her sunny disposition to her mum, whom she says is unfailingly kind. “I’m so grateful she’s my mum," Yerin says. “She just – I get emotional about it – she treats people with kindness no matter her situation or how tired she is or how stressed she is, she will always treat everyone with equality and that’s something she’s taught me is that kindness doesn’t cost anything and that’s how I think you gain respect from people.”
Clearly nothing like her Bridgerton mum Lady Araminta Gun, then, played by Harry Potter actress Katie Leung. “Definitely not a tiger mom,” says Yerin, giggling.
As an all-new cast to the hit regency series, the actresses quickly bonded. “We’re like a little family; there were quite a number of us who came into the season fresh and new, so it was daunting at first and we just leaned on each other," she says. "And being Asian and female actresses in the business, you want to just show up and support each other.”
While Bridgerton has always been known for its colour-blind casting, season five will introduce an all-Asian family, with some characters even speaking a few words of Korean and Chinese in the show.
“What I love about Bridgerton is that it shows representation in a way that doesn't require over-explaining, like this doesn’t have to be a ‘Korean’ story,” she says. Yerin cites Crazy Rich Asians as one of the movies that allowed her to dream of a future career in Hollywood. “I love that it shows we can all coexist in this space and not have it be a big thing. Also, Benedict falls in love with Sophie as a person, and it’s about fighting for the person on the inside.”
In another first, Bridgerton will also be the first time Yerin’s had to engage in intimate scenes. “I was petrified, it was like 9 am—robes off!” So how did she get over the fear? “Contract!” she jokes. “No, I’m of the mindset that without fear and discomfort that you have to push past, you won’t grow, so I took it on as a challenge for myself to grow as an actor as opposed to doing this for anyone else."
The next evening, Yerin was a vision in a caped lace mini dress at the star-studded evening by the sea hosted by founders Nicky and Simone Zimmermann. Beloved for their elegant, bohemian approach to resortwear, Sydney-based Zimmermann was founded in 1991 and has since garnered a global fanbase for their striking swimwear and effortlessly-cool pieces that could take you from the pool to, well, a celebrity-filled party.
“When I think of Zimmermann, I think of feminine power; someone who’s carefree, and I always aspired to buy into that," she says as she recalls strolling with her mum through a local mall where she grew up in Sydney, coveting all the shimmering Zimmermann pieces hanging on the rails. “I just remember going into the store and looking at the tags, and thinking to myself: 'One day I’ll buy these dresses. I love fashion, but it always felt very unattainable to me, so all of these are still very pinch-me moments.”
Fashion has always been a way for Yerin to get into character, both on screen and on the red carpet. “Sophie’s apron and headpiece immediately put me in her mind space; just having the weight of that on my head helps me get into her character,” Yerin says. As for the red carpet, she likens putting on an outfit to wearing a “superhero suit.” “I’m so introverted and those things give me so much anxiety, so glam and costume to me are almost like a Superman costume that gives me the confidence that I sometimes don’t have or I’m not able to muster up within myself with an alter ego.”
So, what are some characters we can expect to see in Yerin Ha's future? “I’d love to do a comedy, I think comedy is one of the hardest genres out there, I don’t know if I’m that funny but I’d love to try, and I’d love to work with some Korean directors like Park Chan-Wook and Bong Joon Ho—those legends—because I connect with their films culturally.” Watch out, world!
We know who will get their love story in seasons 5 and 6!
