Excuse me, why is Camille not in Emily in Paris anymore?!
Season five of Emily in Paris is officially here, bringing with it the ludicrous outfits, questionable accents, impromptu musical moments and, of course, our homegirl Emily (Lily Collins). But there’s one thing missing: a certain blonde we’ve grown very attached to. Yes, Camille (Camille Razat) has truly left Emily in Paris, and frankly, we’re heartbroken.
This season follows our American influencer to Rome, where she’s chasing her heart — and the very handsome Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). And while Paris may no longer be the main event, we still get plenty of screen time with our favourite characters. There is, however, one beloved face missing… and no, we’re not talking about Gabriel (Lucas Bravo).
Despite what the title suggests, many of us were tuning in for Emily’s frenemy just as much as Emily herself — and we’re feeling her absence deeply. Which is why the world (read: the GLAMOUR team) needs answers. Why did Camille leave Emily in Paris? Or, more pressingly, was Camille written out of the show altogether?
The girlies deserve to know.
How did season 4 end for Camille?
In Emily in Paris season 4, Camille found herself in the midst of total turmoil after it was revealed that she wasn’t actually pregnant, but had received a rare false positive. She initially kept the truth from Gabriel in an attempt to make him stay with her, rather than return to Emily. By the end of the season, however, she came clean, and the pair ultimately called off their wedding.
The experience proved transformative for Camille. After everything, she realised that her desire to start a family was real, prompting her to announce plans to adopt a baby on her own.
Season four wrapped up with Camille moving into a new flat, complete with space for a nursery, as she finally left behind the Emily-and-Gabriel drama for good — and honestly, good for her.
Why was Camille written out of Emily in Paris?
Speaking about Camille’s absence with Radio Times, creator Darren Star explained: “I think Camille’s storyline was a wonderful storyline, but I think it ran its course by the end of season four, so it opened up some new doors for us.”
He also pointed to the influx of new faces — including Minnie Driver, Bryan Greenberg, and the return of Eugenio Franceschini as a series regular — noting that the expanded cast “gave the show a lot of new energy.”
Star went on to share that the team is keen to bring back “fun Gabriel,” a version of the character that’s arguably been missing for some time. It appears both Star and the writers associate Camille’s presence with a heavier chapter for Gabriel — and with Emily in Paris season six already being teased, they’re clearly setting him up to be at his most charming once again.
Why did Camille Razat want to leave Emily in Paris?
In April, Camille Razat took to Instagram to confirm that her exit from Emily in Paris was planned, explaining that she felt ready to move on from the Netflix series. The French actress also hinted at her upcoming projects and addressed the possibility of Camille returning to Emily’s story in the future.
“After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,” she wrote, sharing a carousel of images from the show — including one of her and Collins in character.

“It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories. I’m deeply grateful to @starmandarren and the entire team at @netflix and @paramountpics for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world.”
"This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons."
She also spoke a bit about her new acting roles: “I’ve recently wrapped two series: Nero for Netflix and the Lost Station girls for Disney+. I’m also excited to share that I’ve launched my own production company, @tazar_production. We mainly produce music videos and short films for now, but we’re currently developing our first feature film, something I’m truly passionate about and excited to grow.”
And finally, she closed it off with: "I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way. Thank you for the beautiful ride."
"Love you sister. It’s been a wild ride and an absolute pleasure. You’re a rockstar. So proud of you," Collins commented alongside a heart emoji.
Meanwhile, her on-screen love interest, Bravo (aka Gabriel), commented, “My sister” — a little awkward, perhaps, but clearly well-intentioned.
The series ended with a dedication to Borella.

Could Camille return to Emily in Paris for season 6?
So, could we see Camille on Emily in Paris season 6? She might be done for now, but we certainly aren’t ready to let her go. Here’s what creator Darren Star had to say:
“Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don’t necessarily have to see them. We may or may not,” he told TVLine. “I don’t know how much of Camille we’ll see next season. But again, she’s part of the world of the series. I’m not sure how soon we’ll see her, but it doesn’t mean… that we won’t be seeing her.”
The door isn’t closed, and our money is on Camille making a return to Emily in Paris before it’s all over. Watch this space.
