Bonjour mes amis! It's time for another check-in with our favourite American transplant in Paris… err, Rome? Yep, you read that right. In Emily in Paris season 5, the newest season of Netflix's popular comedy, our titular heroine is no longer in Paris, but has decamped to Italy to work on a project for her boss Sylvie.
The series, which was created by Sex and the City's Darren Star and stars Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, was an instant hit due to the light, frothy content, over-the-top costumes, and romantic entanglements between Emily, her French neighbour Gabriel, his girlfriend Camille, and Emily's love interest Alfie. Sure, it's not the most true-to-life depiction of how social media marketing works or what it's like to be an American in Paris, but that's part of the fun!
When we left Emily and company in season 4, she was about to move to Rome for six months, and her on-again, off-again romance with Gabriel has (maybe) come to an end as she pursues things with another hot guys she works with, Marcello. Emily's bestie Mindy (Ashley Park) was also dealing with romantic drama after ending her relationship with the jealous Nico and figuring out the next steps of her musical career, and Emily's boss Sylvie was navigating some major work-related conflict.
So who should we expect to see in Emily in Paris season 5? Which original cast members are coming back for more, and will we meet some new faces as Emily attempts to make it in Rome? Here's what to know about the cast of Emily in Paris.
Lily Collins as Emily Cooper
Lily Collins stars as Emily, the plucky heroine who picked up her life and moved from Chicago to Paris in season one. It took some time for Emily to find her footing in Paris, but over time, she's settled in and won the respect of her boss, Sylvie. In season five, Emily is heading up the Roman outpost of Agence Grateau and navigating a new romantic relationship with Marcello, whom she met while skiing in season four.
Collins, the daughter of famous British musician Phil Collins, was raised mostly in Los Angeles and began acting as a child. Her first big role was in 2009's The Blind Side, and she played Snow White in Mirror Mirror opposite Julia Roberts in 2012. In 2017, she played Fantine in a BBC adaptation of Lés Miserables and wrote a book of essays called Unfiltered. She starred opposite Zac Efron in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, about the murderer Ted Bundy, in 2019. She married director Charlie McDowell in 2021 and they welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2025.
Ashley Park as Mindy Chen
Ashley Park plays Emily's bestie Mindy, whom she meets during her first days in Paris. Mindy is a talented singer and dreams of music superstardom, much to the chagrin of her powerful family, from whom she is estranged.
Park grew up singing and dancing and made her Broadway debut in 2014, scoring her first major role on the stage in 2015's adaptation of The King and I. She originated the role of Gretchen in Broadway's Mean Girls adaptation and was nominated for the Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her work. Park was cast in Emily in 2019 and has also appeared in Only Murders in the Building, as well as the movie Joy Ride.

Lucas Bravo as Gabriel
French actor Lucas Bravo plays Gabriel, a chef who lives in Emily's building in Paris. The two meet and eventually develop feelings for each other, though Gabriel has a girlfriend, Camille, throughout much of the series.
Bravo wasn't thrilled about his character development after season one, and shared his honest feelings about Gabriel in 2024. “As they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimising and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him,” he told IndieWire, adding that he wasn't sure he wanted to come back for season five. “I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self. Because three seasons [of] playing melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost is not fun anymore. It’s a comedy, everybody is having fun around me, everybody is jumping around, and I’m just slowly sinking into god knows what." Bravo is back for more, however, and we have a feeling he'll be showing up in Paris.
Bravo grew up in Nice as the son of a footballer and musician. Emily in Paris was his first major role, though he has since appeared in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and Ticket to Paradise with Julia Roberts and George Clooney.
Lucien Laviscount as Alfie
British actor Lucien Laviscount stars as Alfie, Emily's ex-boyfriend who moved to Paris for work. In the season five trailer, we see Alfie and Mindy getting cosy, which could complicate things for each of them down the road. We shall see!
Laviscount began modelling as a child and got his big break with a role in the popular soap Coronation Street. A few years later, he appeared in Scream Queens and the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene. In 2024, he appeared in the music video for Shakira and Cardi B's song “Puntería.” Laviscount is set to play Trey in the anticipated adaptation of Emily Henry's book The People We Meet on Vacation in 2026.
Eugenio Francheschini as Marcello
A newer face in the Emily in Paris expanded universe is Eugenio Francheschini, who plays Emily's love interest Marcello. The Italian actor joined the cast in season four, appearing in the final few episodes, and he's back for season five.
Francheschini was born in Verona and acted in a variety of Italian TV projects before landing the role of Marcello. “For me it’s an unexpected gift, because everything happened very quickly,” he told People of joining the cast of Emily. ”When I was selected, I was filming a TV series here in Italy, so I didn't have time to realise what was happening. So, I threw myself into something."
Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau
French actor Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu plays Sylvie, founder of Agence Grateau and Emily's boss. At first, Sylvie wasn't a huge fan of Emily's very American approach when she showed up at the Savoir offices, but over time, the two have become close. In season four, Sylvie is dealing with a lot, including her former employer Louis de Léon's sexual harassment of female employees and ups and downs in her marriage to Laurent, as well as the arrival of her stepdaughter Genviève.

Leroy-Beaulieu has been a working actor in France since scoring her first role in 1983. In 1985, she appeared in the movie Three Men and a Cradle, which was nominated for the Best Foreign Film Oscar. Prior to joining the cast of Emily in Paris, Leroy-Beaulieu appeared in the TV series Call My Agent and Agathe Koltès.
Samuel Arnold as Julien
Samuel Arnold stars as Julien, Emily's friend and Agence Grateau coworker. In season four, he left Agence Grateau for a role at JVMA but eventually returned. “I was so happy when I read the script and I got to do more [in season four],” Samuel told Euphoria magazine in 2024. “I feel like a lot of people wanted to see more of Julien, myself included. Everything Julien did on the past three seasons just made sense, like it was all just build-up to season four.”
Arnold got his start on France's version of the Got Talent franchise and appeared in a few small projects before landing the role of Julien.
Bruno Gouery as Luc
Bruno Gouery is Luc, who works with Emily, Julian, and Sylvie at Agence Grateau. The French actor, who is also fluent in Italian, has appeared in a variety of French and Italian projects, as well as the British TV series Doc Martin. Alongside his role on Emily in Paris, Gouery had a small role on The White Lotus season two as Didier.
Thalia Besson as Geneviève
Thalia Besson plays Geneviève, Sylvie's stepdaughter and a potential foil for Emily. Geneviève grew up in America and moves to Paris, where she eventually starts working for Agence Grateau. At first, she and Emily are friendly, but Geneviève develops a crush on Gabriel, which complicates things — especially when Geneviève “translates” Gabriel's French declaration of his feelings to Emily and omits a few things.
Besson is the daughter of famed French director Luc Besson and producer Virginie Besson-Silla. She has worked as a model and actor and Emily in Paris is her first major role.
Bryan Greenberg as Jake
New to the crew is Bryan Greenberg, who plays another American ex-pat named Jake. Greenberg has appeared in a plethora of TV projects, including One Tree Hill, The Mindy Project, and the recent Suits spinoff, Suits LA.
Michèle Laroque as Yvette
Michèle Laroque will appear in season five as Sylvie's friend Yvette. Laroque is a French actor who has appeared in French TV, film, and theatre projects.
Minnie Driver as Princess Jane
Oscar-nominated actor Minnie Driver plays Princess Jane, a friend of Sylvie's, in season five. Driver's big break was 1995's Circle of Friends and she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Good Will Hunting in 1997.
