The Sinner season 4 is back on Netflix for your viewing pleasure!
That's right – grab that blanket, stick some sweet n' salty popcorn in the microwave and hunker down for the crème de la crème of cold weather watching, courtesy of Jessica Biel's award-winning crime/police procedural/mystery drama (the sheer amount of forward slashes there are testament to the series' genre-defying originality). January blues? Not us, not anymore!
Starring Kristen Bell and Michael Ealy.

Before we get into the nitty gritty details, we should declare upfront that this latest 8-parter – sorry, fans – looks to be The Sinner's final season.
The series, which saw Jessica Biel move into an executive producer role, first arrived on our screens in 2017 – starring Biel herself (she then bowed out of the acting parts, but went on to serve as executive producer on the successive seasons).
But all good things come to an end – and series creator Derek Simonds called time on this show back in November last year.
He said in a statement: "It's been a huge pleasure and a privilege to be able to tell the kind of stories we have on The Sinner these past four seasons. [Universal Content Productions] and USA have been ideal partners and continually supportive of our creative goals, and I'm so pleased to complete Harry Ambrose's dramatic series-long arc as we intended in this final season.”
But now that that one's out the way, on to the good stuff! Here's what you can expect from the fourth and final instalment of The Sinner…
Who's in season 4?
Good old Detective Ambrose, played by Bill Pullman, will be back for the ride, with his partner Sonya (Jessica Hecht) alongside, as has become the norm for The Sinner, a whole new cast specific to the season.
While Ethan is a character often deployed for laughs in The Tourist, his actions, behaviour and language are almost a textbook depiction of an emotional abuser.

Alice Kremelberg ( who played Nicole Eckelcamp in seasons 6 and 7 of Orange Is The New Black) plays the season's title role as Percy Muldoon, alongside The Grand Budapest Hotel's Neal Huff and Titanic's Francis Fisher playing her parents.
Michael Mosley, Cindy Cheung and Ronin Wong will also play prominent roles.
What's it about?
Like its forerunners, this season will follow the trademark ‘whydunnit’ style – i.e. we know who did the crime (or we find out very early on), but not what motivated them to “sin” in the first place. Cue a complex background story that provides a satisfying deep-dive into character motivation.
As is characteristic for the series, The Sinner will feature a whole new investigation, departing from the plots of the previous season. The only linearity will be long-suffering Detective Ambrose, who returns to solve the mystery shrouding the crime.
"Still reeling from the trauma of a previous case a year ago, the now-retired Harry Ambrose travels to Hanover Island in northern Maine for a recuperative getaway with his partner, Sonya (Jessica Hecht). When an unexpected tragedy occurs involving the daughter of a prominent island family, Ambrose is recruited to help the investigation, only to be thrown into a mystery of mounting paranoia that will turn this sleepy tourist island, and Ambrose’s life, upside down."
The four-part series should hit screens in 2022.

The first episode begins with main character Percy Muldoon – who gives the season its title: “Percy” – stepping off a cliff, an event which is witnessed by Ambrose, who becomes unwittingly embroiled in the case during his retirement holiday (because the poor man apparently can't catch a break…).
The American businesswoman has been found guilty of four counts of fraud.

Is there a trailer?
You bet you there's a gripping-as-hell trailer, to whet your appetite for watching the full season.
The trailer offers a further tantalising insight into the season's action, which opens with Ambrose being initially questioned about his involvement in the case at the centre of the episode – after having (apparently) witnessed Percy jumping off a cliff.
All eight episodes of The Sinner season 4 are now available to watch on Netflix.
