You may soon be able to get a tattoo with 'erasable ink'...

We love tattoos - from checking out what our favourite celebrities are getting to browsing through some cool designs to plan our own inking. The biggest problem, however? The fact they they're permanent and are a nightmare to get removed.

Well, it seems this may no longer be an issue as chemical and biomolecular students at New York University have created a type of tattoo ink that can be erased, either right away or years later. Clever, huh?

The 'erasable ink' has been named Ephemeral, and the process simply involves using a topical solution to remove any ink. Equally, if you just want to 'edit' a tattoo design you already have (spelling mistakes, be gone) you can remove certain bits then have what you want re-tattooed.

It is set to be far less painful - and hopefully cheaper - than the current laser removal method.

Right now the ink is still under development and there is little information about how much the process will cost or where it will be available, but we're dreaming of a time when we will never have to regret a tattoo design, name or quote again...
