Sydney Sweeney went Old Hollywood on a recent red carpet, proving that she does timeless as well as she does trendy in a sheer flapper dress.

For an Armani Beauty event at the Berlin Film Festival, the actor chose a sheer black gown with just enough beads and fringe to make us wonder whether it’s 2023 or 1923. The square neckline and length all add to the flapper vibe, though the gown is new—and Armani, of course. As we are still in the Era of No Necklaces, Sweeney kept it simple with a tennis bracelet, pinky ring, and small earrings, plus black tights and heels.

Complementing the dark elegance of her dress is her makeup look: classic minimal eyeliner and a dramatic red lip; her hair, currently a dark blonde, blown-dried and glossed to within an inch of its life. This is not a starlet, this is an artist.

”Beautiful evening in berlin with my @armanibeauty family ♥️ mixed #armanibeauty lip power in shades 404 and 403 to create my new fave lip 🔥,” Sweeney wrote on Instagram. Be sure to click through for a video of the actor twisting in the dress, making the fringe fly. A brand that actually knows what to do with a red-carpet moment! I’m so happy for her!!!!!!!

Sydney Sweeney is currently abroad for the premiere of Reality, in which she stars as Reality Winner, the NSA whistleblower who leaked information about Russian interference in the 2016 election. While preparing for the role, Sweeney was able to speak to Winner, and called it an “honour.”

Earlier during the festival, Sweeney pulled off a style 180, wearing a bedazzled, half-cut-out suit in the day, then transforming into Jessica Rabbit at night. You know, I love watching her have fun with these avant-garde trends, but I have to say, whenever she embraces being a gorgeous, gorgeous girl in a gorgeous, gorgeous gown, I am agog.
