Sun's out, sunglasses on! Having been graced with warm temps and blue skies (the Met Office says we've had more sunny days this spring than all over last summer!), you've no doubt done your closet swap and restarted your bi-monthly pedicure routine by now.

The final step of the seasonal conversion? Buying a new pair of sunnies.

Sure, we all have our faves we'll never part with, whether it's those flea market finds or plastic frames that have seen us through thick and thin. But every year, new styles come into favour while old styles fall out, often driven by the prevailing trends of the year as well as celebrity endorsements.

Remember the Miu Miu squoval frames last summer that nearly every influencer was sporting? Out. The wraparound aviators made popular by the '00s craze? Out (thank goodness!). And finally, the chunky, Loewe OTT frames that looked like they came straight out of Willy Wonka? Also out.

This year, it's all about Old Hollywood classics, and retro frames that go with the Boho summer vibes we're feeling in fashion. Below, take a look at the three sunglasses styles that will be all over your FYPs this summer.

1. Old Hollywood Romance

We've been hanging onto every look Kylie Jenner has sported this year, from her appearances with beau Timothée Chalamet at basketball games to Fashion Week, and if there's one thing we've learned that's trending according to this beauty mogul, it's that Old Hollywood glamour is back. From her slinky black dress at the David di Donatello awards ceremony (aka the moment she hard-launched her relationship with Timmy) to her chic two-piece tweed skirt-suit at the Chanel fashion show, Kylie's been bringing back simple, yet elegant styles favoured by Old Hollywood screen sirens and that means through her choice of sunnies too. At said Chanel show, Kylie wore the perfect soft cateye sunnies and we couldn't stop thinking about how the shape looks timeless and universally flattering on all faces. They're the kind worn by the likes of Jane Russell in the 1950s, when actresses with headscarfs in convertibles would slip them on before riding into the sunset, and we can't wait to channel the same energy this summer.

2. It Was All Yellow

Just when you think we've certainly gone through all the ‘90s and ’00s trend revivals, think again. Last year's ultra-sporty wraparound aviators have made the rounds, much to the dread and horror of Millennials who've actually had to live through that era, and while they've (hopefully) been laid to rest, another transparent lens has taken its place: the yellow-tinted sunnies. Seen all of the runways from the likes of McQueen, Tory Burch, Chloé and Lacoste, these Boho frames that arguably came from the ‘70s (but had another moment in the ’00s, Almost Famous-era) are picking up traction again. Love them or hate them, they're actually quite useful for London's unpredictable weather, when it's sunny in the morning and pouring by the afternoon. Not only do they offer UV 400 protection, they just add a little edge to any monochromatic 'fit.

Move over, squoval frames. This year we're all about the right angles. If Miu Miu's squoval sunnies were the reigning style last year, then it's just been usurped by skinny, rectangle frames from brands like Bottega Veneta and Rayban. We know Hailey Bieber is a fan of skinny frames and we've already seen her in more than a few pairs. While she favours the acetate styles, gold-rimmed, grandpa frames are coming back in style and the good news is, someone in the family already owns a pair. It's no wonder that the rectangle sunglasses have become the next hot shapes given everyone's ongoing love affair with all things vintage. After all, what else am I supposed to wear with my denim jackets and bubble shorts?
