Severance season 2 is almost over. The finale has just dropped and we're cancelling our evening plans immediately.
Ever since the first season dropped on Apple TV+ in 2022, we've been gripped. The inventive premise sets the scene at the fictional Lumon Industries, where workers' brains are severed — they live one life inside the office, and another outside. After they are severed, they effectively become two completely different people.
This season, we've seen the office innies and their outies beginning to interact as the innies strive to find answers about the mysterious Lumon industries where they work. The 75-minute season finale lands today and most reviewers already agree that it's one of the best episodes of the gripping series so far.
You have two options — you could go outie and unplug from your screen, or, you could stay innie and get lost in a brand new mind-bending sci-fi thriller. (Sorry.)
These 10 shows will all appeal to fans of Severance. Whether you're after more jaw-dropping twists, another amazing premise, or some really, really good sci-fi, we've got you covered.
To put it 'monosyllabically', we want it now.

If you are hooked on Severance, Westworld will undoubtedly be right up your alley. The HBO show was inspired by a classic '70s sci-fi film about a futuristic immersive western theme park where guests can playact as alongside life-like robots. In the HBO series, the robots being to become sentient about their false reality — and, naturally, western-themed chaos ensues. Season 1 is especially gripping with a plot twist that is truly Severance-worthy.
Westworld is available to stream on NowTV.
The Leftovers frequently features on lists of the best TV shows of all time — and it's not hard to see why. Like Severance, this is a show that features a truly gripping premise that keeps you guessing and hypothesising from episode to episode. In this show, 2% of the world's population suddenly vanishes. The “leftover” people are left reeling and rebuilding after the mysterious tragedy.
The Leftovers is available to stream on NowTV.
Another Apple TV+ offering, Silo is a must-watch show for sci-fi fans. Based on the novels by Hugh Howsey, this show sets the scene in an imagined future where humans have moved underground into giant silos that bury deep into the earth after the surface of the planet has (allegedly) become uninhabitable. The social order in one silo is rocked when people begin questioning the truth about the world outside — is it really as deadly as it seems? If you're sensing a similarity to the segregation of the innie and outie worlds, here, you aren't wrong.
Silo is available to stream on Apple TV+.
This German-language Netflix series is famously complex and filled with mind-bending twists. After a young boy goes missing from a small town, another teen boy finds a passageway to the past. Soon enough, multiple timelines from the town begin to overlap and intersect. Eventually, it becomes clear that every timeline was always destined to be interlinked with the others. There is a lot of time travelling and shock-horror moments of realisation in this one — we recommend coming armed with a notepad and pen to keep track of where (and when) all of the characters are.
Dark is available to stream on Netflix.
This sci-fi thriller by Alex Garland follows a young women who works as a computer engineer who begins to suspect her company of having something to do with her partner's disappearance — someone working at a futuristic company who has things to hide… sound familiar?
Devs is available to stream on Disney+.
This iconic show gripped its audiences with a supernatural mystery that has gone down in pop culture history. If you love coming up with theories and searching for hidden clues in Severance, it's safe to say you'll love Lost. This show followed a group of plane crash survivors who found themselves stuck on a mysterious island that turned out to be filled with enough secrets to keep you guessing for six seasons.
Lost is available to stream on Netflix.
This 2004 sci-fi series is old-school sci-fi — set in the future, humans are now living in a far off star system. When androids known as Cylons, which were once created by humans, destroy their colonies, only a small group of humans survive. The Battlestar Galactica, an ancient starship that had been decommissioned, is only ship to survive the attack. The group set off in search of the legendary final colony of humans: Earth.
Battlestar Galactica is available to stream on ITVx.
Upload is a 2020 show that sets the scene just 13 years in the future. It's 2033, and humans are now able to “upload” themselves to a virtual world when they die. After one young man dies, he is uploaded to Lakeview, a virtual world that prizes “timeless Americana”. Unlike many sci-fi shows on this list, Upload is purely comedic. Sure, there are a few twists and mysteries along the way, but you don't need to think too deeply for this one.
Upload is available to stream on Prime.
This show, like Severance, also features a mind-bending, futuristic trial on the human mind that leads to some wild results. In this show, Emma Stone plays a young woman who agrees to take part in a pharmaceutical drug trial in which participants live in isolation and take a series of pills and find themselves living in alternate realities.
Maniac is available to stream on Netflix.

This J.K. Simmons show is yet another workplace sci-fi thriller. Howard is an unexceptional office worker who has been doing his job (not that he fully understands what he's actually doing) for 30 years. However, when he discovers that his company is actually a portal to an alternate reality that contains another Howard, things quickly take a seriously Severance-like turn.
Counterpart is available to stream on Apple TV+.
