Your new TV obsession is officially here. May we introduce you to KAOS, the modern, darkly comedic take on Greek mythology starring Jeff Goldblum as Zeus. Netflix has once again outdone itself. It's epic, hilarious, and oh-so-bingeable.
With its sprawling cast, this is one of those shows that you watch constantly scratching your head trying to piece together where on Earth you've seen these people before. Well, if you're desperately trying to place the wonderful KAOS cast, you've come to the right place.
Here's everyone in the KAOS cast and where you've seen them before.
Jeff Goldblum as Zeus
Who they play in KAOS: Jeff Goldblum stars as Zeus, the swaggering, debonair king of Mount Olympus.
Where you've seen them before: Everywhere! The chaos theory obsessed mathematician in Jurassic Park, the scientist in Independence Day, and the literal fly in The Fly! You'll also spot him as the Wizard in the upcoming Wicked movie.
Janet McTeer as Hera
Who they play in KAOS: Hera is the cool, collected, steely wife of Zeus. "They’ve been Gods and they’ve been together for, like, 1,000 years,” she told The Guardian.
Where you've seen them before: Janet McTeer is no stranger to the screen, having appeared in Ozark, Me Before You, The Woman in Black and Albert Nobbs. She has also had a very impressive stage career dating back to the ‘80s — most recently, she stared in Phaedra at London’s National Theatre.
Stephen Dillane as Prometheus
Who they play in KAOS: Our narrator, Prometheus is the one-time friend and current mortal enemy of Zeus. He lives a pretty sorry existence chained to a rock with his liver being slowly eaten away by an eagle.
Where you've seen them before: Dillane is perhaps most recognised for his role as Stannis Baratheon in Game of Thrones. Over the years he has also appeared in The Hours, The Crown, Spy Game and Darkest Hour.
Aurora Pirrineau as Riddy
Who they play in KAOS: You might not remember Riddy from your Greek mythology — but you will remember Eurydice. Riddy winds up in the underworld and her boyfriend Orpheus sets out to free her.
Where you've seen them before: This American actor appeared in Westworld, Prodigal Son and Passengers. You might even remember her from her first ever role in 2011 when she appeared in one episode of Pretty Little Liars as Bianca.
Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus
Who they play in KAOS: Zeus' son who gets himself mixed up in mortal concerns. You may remember Dionysus as the god of wine and partying.
Where you've seen them before: You might have spotted Rizwan in Station Eleven as Frank, in an episode of Industry or in last year's In Camera.
Killian Scott as Orpheus
Who they play in KAOS: Riddy's rockstar boyfriend.
Where you've seen them before: Secret Invasion, Dublin Murders, Damnation, Love/Hate and maybe an episode of Call the Midwife
Misia Butler as Caeneus
Who they play in KAOS: Caeneus is a dead mortal living in the underworld who uncovers a conspiracy that goes all the way to Mount Olympus.
“With Caeneus, I wanted to tell a story with a trans male protagonist, because it's interesting to me and there's a personal aspect there,” said show creator Charlie Covell to Cosmopolitan. “But also there are not many stories where trans men are the main character, and so it was important to me that his transness was integral to him, but not the only thing we know about Caeneus. In the myth he becomes this hyper-macho, violent warrior, and the Caeneus in Kaos is a much more gentle kind of almost reluctant hero warrior.”
Where you've seen them before: Misia Butler is a trans actor who you may have seen in the The School for Dead and Evil or The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself.
David Thewlis as Hades
Who they play in KAOS: Hades is Zeus' brother and the God of Death, whose dominion over the underworld is beginning to fall apart at the seams.
Where you've seen them before: Perhaps best known (by Millennials at least) as Professor Lupin in the Harry Potter franchise, Thewlis has also appeared in Enola Holmes 2, The Theory of Everything, Jack Snyder's Justice League, The Big Lebowski and Only Fools and Horses.
Cliff Curtis as Poseidon
Who they play in KAOS: Zeus' younger brother and the God of Sea, Storms and Earthquakes. Lives to party.
Where you've seen them before: Cliff Curtis has been in many, many epics: Training Day, Columbiana, The Meg, Avatar 2 and Risen, to name a few.
Leila Farzad as Ari
Who they play in KAOS: A lowly mortal, Ari is President Minos' daughter which makes her heir to the Krete throne.
Where you've seen them before: Possibly in I Hate Suzie or The Fear Index. You might have also caught her in another recent Netflix outing, The Decameron, as the no-nonsense cook, Stratilia.
Debi Mazar as Medusa
Who they play in KAOS: She works at Riverbank Management at the Lethe, in the Underworld. Oh yeah, and her hair is made of snakes.
Where you've seen them before: Either in her recent role as the outspoken artist Maggie in Darren Star's Younger or in her earlier work in Empire Records, Jungle Fever and The Insider.
Billie Piper as Cassandra
Who they play in KAOS: A mortal Trojan woman who can't seem to make anyone believe her truth-telling.
Where you've seen them before: All over the place! Doctor Who, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Scoop, I Hate Suzie and the upcoming season of Wednesday.
Eddie Izzard as Lachy
Who they play in KAOS: One of the three fates, Lachy is an immortal being who controls the fates of all mortals — and also plays a part in Zeus' downfall.
Where you've seen them before: Again, chances are, you already know Eddie Izzard from stand-up, from panel shows, from film the Ocean's trilogy, from Six Minutes to Midnight. The list goes on.
Including Don’t Fear The Reaper.
