If you’re an avid MAFS Australia fan (who isn’t?), you may have noticed that Richard and Andrea from the latest season were absent from the final chat with the experts during this week’s heated reunion episodes.
Richard Sauerman, 62, and Andrea Thompson, 51, were paired up during this year’s show, but they decided to call it quits during the sixth commitment ceremony.
While they did appear at the final dinner party with the other couples, they didn’t appear with the experts in the following episode – and now Richard has explained why.
"We were filmed that night," he told the Behind the Edit podcast. "They filmed six couples but only five went to air, we didn’t go to air. They missed the six-minute highlight reel of our relationship.
"Why it didn’t go to air, I have no idea, I think you might want to ask Andie that question. Maybe she has an answer to that."
A look at the MAFS couple's life since leaving the experiment.

Richard added that his and Andrea’s catch up with the experts was ‘a bit awkward’. "It was a bit awkward, to be honest. We didn’t leave [the series] on good terms,” he explained. "We had exchanged a few text messages between leaving and [the reunion], but no real massive, meaningful contact.
"Andie was a bit stand-offish and that’s okay. I said on the couch I’d really like to be friends with Andie and they asked her if that was possible and she said ‘yeah, sure that’s possible’, so we kind of left on that note."
Richard also said he found it uncomfortable to film the scenes with the experts as some of the other couples would be watching.
"It’s so stressful,” he added. Sitting in front of the experts in that environment. With everyone else sitting there, the couples watching you, all the cameras, the lights, the whole thing is very very intense."
Only one couple – Jack and Tori – are still together after the end of the show, with both Eden and Jayden, and Sara and Tim, recently confirming that they have split.
After a season filled with drama, did any couples make it all the way?
