ITV's Out There offers a gritty, realistic glimpse into life in rural Wales following Martin Clunes' Nathan, a Welsh farmer, who finds himself mixed up with a local drug gang.
The Welsh countryside isn't just a backdrop to the action — it becomes its own character in the show. So, it's hardly surprising that the show was filmed entirely in Wales, mainly in and around the Black Mountains in the southeast.
“We were thrilled to have the support of Creative Wales to produce Out There in my home country," said writer-director Marc Evans said in a statement. "We were able to explore beautiful and rarely seen areas around the Black Mountains and to use local talent for our cast and crew."
The gripping new drama has just dropped a trailer.
Clunes was also a fan of the Out There filming locations. “I really enjoyed filming in Wales. The locations were beautiful," he said. "I like being on a farm and being in the countryside. I was in my element."

Where is Out There filmed?
Llangattock and Llyswen
Much of the action in Out There takes place in the rural farmland of Wales. The farms used for the show were located in the villages of Llangattock and Llyswen.
Darrow Farm, Carmarthenshire
One of the main farms was Darrow Farm in Carmarthenshire.
"We’ve been at Darrow Farm for years — it’s been in the family a long time," said the farm's owner, Gina-Lorraine Murray, to South Wales Argus. “The house itself is 500 years old and has seen better days. It’s a working farm, so it’s always busy.”
She added, “To be honest, the house was getting a bit run down, and I thought, ‘What else can we do with it?’ I’d always liked the idea of putting it forward for TV work but had no idea where to start. I kept mentioning it to clients who came over, and one day, someone said, ‘You need to call Wales Screen.’”
The house was originally pink but was painted grey for the shoot. "But they repainted it pink afterwards," said Murray. “Honestly, I didn’t mind — it needed the work anyway, so a refresh was welcome. They even built stables in one of the barns. It was quite exciting to see the house get a bit of a makeover. And the crew was brilliant – they left everything spotless when they were done. It was like they were never here. I couldn’t believe it. It was so much fun, and I’d love to have them back.”

Llandovery
Aside from the farmland, the show also features several town scenes. The main town was filmed in several spots across Wales, but most of it was shot in Llandovery, also in Carmarthenshire.
Newport, Trefil near Merthyr Tydfil, Port Talbot, Swansea, Cardiff and Bettws
The show also sometimes took the action to larger towns and cities. Welsh cities like Newport, Trefil near Merthyr Tydfil, Port Talbot, Swansea, Cardiff and Bettws were all featured.
Dragon Studios in Cardiff
Finally, some of the interior scenes were shot at Dragon Studios in Cardiff.
