Olivia Rodrigo had just celebrated her 21st birthday, and she found the perfect little black dress for the big occasion.
On 20 February, the singer-songwriter shared a series of photos from her birthday party on her Instagram page and stories. The posts included snapshots of all of her birthday festivities, including her cake in her signature light purple hue, her celebrity friends, and more. And while the ambience looked 10/10, we couldn’t focus on anything besides her head-turning dress.

Rodrigo kept to her true sense of fashion on the special day and opted for one of her go-to styles, a little black dress. However, it might just be the edgiest one we’ve ever seen her in yet.
As noted by Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, her longtime stylists, Rodrigo wore a look from Alaïa’s spring-summer 1991 collection. It featured a halter neckline fastened by a leather belt holding up two loops of fabric that formed the bodice that plunged all the way down to the belted waistline. The front and back of the sheer skirt were knotted together in the middle, so the agape parts formed a side slit that revealed a sparkly rhinestone thong.

With such an eye-catching LBD, it makes sense that Rodrigo opted for a signature low-key style of jewellery and beauty. She went with her typical stacked rings and wore a pair of rhinestone hoop earrings that matched her exposed G-string.
Rodrigo also wore her signature winged eyeliner and vampy red lipstick that matched her nails. It seems like her long, wavy hair was tied into an updo partway through the night. We’ve all been there — when you’re busy having fun, sometimes you just need to get your hair out of the way!
