M&S cookies are excellent as a standard, so naturally the supermarket's latest offering of Chunked N'Loaded cookies has sent us, and the rest of the internet, into a spin.
On 9 July M&S Food launched what we're calling their answer to the viral US Crumbl cookies, bringing out the new cookie in three delectable varied flavours: Chocolate & Hazelnut, Raspberry Cheesecake and Pistachio.
Retailing at £2, the new Chunked N'Loaded cookies epitomise loaded cookies in the best possible way. As per their Instagram, the cookies are “hand finished and baked daily”, with “a delicious hidden centre."
“Crafted from an all-butter recipe using Wildfarmed flour, and topped with extra drizzles and delights - think melt in your mouth with a satisfyingly crisp and gooey bite!”, AKA a good time.

Of course, it's been a busy few weeks for M&S, with their strawberries and cream sandwich dividing the Glamour team into those in favour of a sweet sandwich and those who feel that the very concept is downright sacrilegious.
Though cookies in general are an easier sell to UK audiences than a fruit ‘sandwich’, we as a nation have very high standards when it comes to our cookies, so these had a lot to live up to. So what did Glamour testers make of the new M&S cookies? And are they worthy of dethroning the strawberry sando?
M&S' Chunked N'Loaded cookies review and rankings 🏆
A white chocolate chip and butter cookie dough with pistachio nibs throughout, this cookie is flavoured with Sicilian lemon oil and pistachio butter. With a thick cream cheese filling at its centre, the M&S' Chunked N'Loaded pistachio cookie is finished with a decadent white chocolate drizzle and a generous heaping of pistachios.
Though an internet favourite of the trio, Glamour testers found the Pistachio cookie a little dry and crumbly to the point where it was difficult to pick up. In addition to the generous heaping of pistachio on top, testers were getting strong lemon and almond notes coming through, so if you're not into either of those things then this perhaps isn't the cookie for you.
With that in mind, we'd rank it in the 3rd spot out of the three cookies.
Coming in at second place, the Chocolate & Hazelnut M&S' Chunked N'Loaded cookie uses chocolate flavoured dough, with nibbed hazelnuts and dark chocolate chips featuring throughout. At its core, this cookie has a rich and gooey chocolate and hazelnut filling that is finished with more chocolatey goodness and chopped hazelnuts.
Overall, Glamour testers found this had a denser consistency that was a little dry. The topping was giving Ferrero Rocher vibes in the best possible way, though the resounding feeling was that the cookie to topping ratio was higher than the rest, serving up just a hint of cookie with maximum chocolate drizzle. If you're a hazelnut fan you're well accounted for, with this being the standout flavour of the cookie.
Truly though, can you go wrong with a chocolate cookie? We think not, so this makes for a solid second place.
A surprise standout among testers, the Raspberry Cheesecake M&S' Chunked N'Loaded cookie was loved by a majority of the Glamour office for its notably moist texture.
An all-butter cookie with white chocolate chips loaded liberally throughout, this little number features a deliciously creamy raspberry cheesecake filling which is rounded off with yet more white chocolate drizzle and freeze-dried raspberries for good measure.
Testers were impressed with the cookie's gooeyness thanks to its cheesecake centre, while the raspberries offered a pleasant tanginess in contrast to the creamy white chocolate. A well deserved first place for Raspberry Cheesecake!
M&S' Chunked N'Loaded cookies vs the M&S strawberries and cream sandwich
So were the M&S' Chunked N'Loaded cookies enough to dethrone the viral strawberries and cream sandwich?
The overall feeling in the office was that while good, the Chunked N'Loaded cookies didn't match the standard M&S cookies, while the strawberries and cream sandwich made for a more fun novelty summer treat just in time for Wimbledon.
Though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, for us the strawberry sando came out on top.
Is this the sando of the summer? 🍓
