Pink eyes

Pink eyeshadow: it's the trend that keeps on giving at the moment. From Sophia Bush's SAG Awards neon look to the array of pink and lilac hues at the Golden Globes, 2017 has been all about making the pink eye cool.

And it seems the Met was no different. While red was the colour to wear on your body, pink was the one for your face. Selena Gomez wore loud and proud colour-washed eyes, while Lupita Nyong'o opted for ultra pretty multi-coloured makeup with splashes of hot pink and Rihanna just wore it pretty much all over her face. Other stars to covet pink included Sasha Lane and Jemima Kirke.

Here's how to go pink:

For an intense shot of colour, try Mac's Pigment in Fuchsia or Rose, £16, or give ByTerry's amazing Blackstar Ombre stick, £29, a go in the shade Bubble Glow. Finish the look off with a little pink eyeliner on your lash line - try Mac's Technakohl Liner in Funfare, £14. Pink is totally wearable for the daytime, too. Stick to soft, matte pink colours such as the ones in the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, £38, NARS' D Gorgeous shade, £18, or Giorgio Armani's Eye Tint in 08, £27.

Wigs

The easiest way to switch up your hair? With a wig, ofc. Kylie Jenner is a huge fan, while Gigi Hadid recently wore a hot pink wig for her birthday, and guess what? The Met was full of 'em.

The two biggest standout wigs were from Rita Ora - who rocked an impressionist blonde 'do - and Lily Collins, who went gothic.

Piercings

Ok, we only spotted a major piercing on one star, but it's definitely worth a mention. Joan Smalls, whose makeup was taken care of by the incomparable Patrick Ta, finished off her look with 3 lip rings. It was bold, but how cool did she look?!

Winged liner

The Gala was awash with thick feline flicks. Among those who championed the look? Lily Rose Depp, Gigi Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, Daisy Ridley and Hailee Steinfeld.

Sleek bobs

While extensions were popular at this year's Met Gala, short and sleek bobs reigned supreme in our eyes. Kylie Jenner shunned rainbow colour or long locks in favour of an ice blonde short bob, while Kerry Washington, Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez wore shoulder-length dark styles. Long live the bob!
