Hold up… what's the deal with Merit Beauty?
Vegan and cruelty-free brand Merit launched back in 2021, but only graced the shelves of most UK-based retailers last year. That said, it didn't take long for the brand to steal our hearts with its sleeeeek packaging, hydrating formulas and glow-inducing makeup range. Need proof? #meritbeauty has garnered over 60+ million views on TikTok, and the brand has over 3.7million likes on its page.
We published a Merit review on launch day circa February 2023, when our Senior European Commerce Editor rated the range 9/10 – becoming particularly fond of the brand's creamy contour stick. “I've been using this contour stick for a little over a month now, every day, and absolutely loving it. It applies like a dream and makes recreating all manner of TikTok-approved contour hacks a piece of cake.”
And if that wasn't enough, Merit also received multiple celeb endorsements, including the likes of Mandy Moore, Cameron Diaz and Bella Hadid. In fact, Bella was the one who debuted the brand's first-ever lipstick at New York fashion week back in 2022.

That said, Merit is definitely not the most affordable brand, and understandably so – their high-quality luxe formulations speak for themselves. So naturally, the Merit Black Friday sale is your best bet to take advantage of the 20% savings and treat yourself with some quality makeup. Plus, the brand also has quite a few of their bundles and beauty gifts on sale, in case you needed a friendly reminder to kick off your Christmas shopping and pamper your bestie too (wink-wink).
What to buy in the Merit Black Friday sale?
Starting off strong, we'd definitely recommend making a beeline for Merit's epic gift sets. The perfect gift for mums, sister gift or gift for grandmas, they bundle everything you love about the brand into one neat package.
The Five Minute Morning serves exactly that: a chance to spend more time enjoying your morning latte, and less time faffing with far more product that your makeup bag needs to house. The Flush Balm is creamy, pigmented and so easy to blend (I do it with my fingers, directly onto the apples of my cheeks), while the mascara offers supreme length and definition. My lashes felt fluttery all day – and the product didn't flake onto my cheeks.
Next up: Merit's best-selling Flush Balm and Bronze Balm sticks. If I can only recommend two Merit products to my friends, it's these. Both designed to add a subtle wash of colour and bring your complexion to life, they literally fool-proof on the application front and so. Damn. Creamy.
The Flush Balm is available in nine beautiful colours, melting into the skin upon contact, while the Bronze Balm is best applied directly from the stick and blended with a contour brush or fingers. It's super buildable, which is something we loved.
Of course, we couldn't not include the iconic Merit Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick, designed to be a versatile product that will even our your skin tone and add a natural-looking tint for the ultimate “skin-like” finish. Speaking of skin, you simply must check out the Great Skin facial serum, formulated for that lit-from-within glow.
Now onto our lip and eye lip favourites. Meet the newly launched solo eyeshadow pot, the lengthening Clean Lash mascara, the Signature Lip and, of course, the best-selling Shade Slick lip oil (which also happened to make it into our best lip oils roundup, hint hint).
Last, but most certainly not least, we have the brand's makeup brushes. The No.1 is ideal for blending our your creams and your liquids (think skin tints, bronzers and blushers), while the No.2 is ideal for saturating targeted areas, including eyelids and nose contour. You're welcome.
What is Black Friday?
Marking the start of the Christmas shopping season, Black Friday weekend always begins the day after Thanksgiving. It started off in America, but it’s now a major international shopping event that most brands in the UK take part in.
