We don't mean to speak too soon, but after the past 12 months proved to be really muggy, we're looking forward to a more 'normal' summer, with but it is what it is and we can only hope for a more 'normal' summer, right? With international holidays, summer weddings and even festivals set to make a glorious comeback. As is another one of our favourite summer stalwarts.
That's right, after being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Love Island is set to make a return to ITV2 on June 28 at 9pm and show bosses promise it will be bigger and better than ever.

And if the new season's opening video is anything to go by, things look spicy. The opener introduces viewers to the eleven Islanders entering the villa this series, showing them ditching their day jobs for a flight to Mallorca. We also get a taste for the new islanders’ personalities and we predict a riot.

When does Love Island start?
ITV has just confirmed that the show will begin on 28th June and still run for its usual eight weeks.
Previous iterations of the show have started at the start of June (2019's version launched on the 3rd) but due to Covid restrictions, it's believed it has been pushed back by three weeks.
A source told MailOnline: "Crew members are scheduled to fly out to Majorca on June 20 - with the series expected to launch a week later.
"The delayed launch date will not have an impact on the length of the series, with the show still running for a duration of eight weeks.
"Winter Love Island on the other hand has been 'indefinitely postponed' as bosses put all their energy until the summer series."

Where will it be filmed?
The show will go ahead in Mallorca, where the cast have been isolating ahead of the launch.

ITV has started dropping pictures and details on the new batch of islanders and we can reveal them as they drop in in our guide to all of this year's islanders. Among the islanders announced so far is a Nando's waitress, civil servant, the show's first-ever disabled star, a model and a water engineer.
